Responsibilities Prepare lesson plans for the principal’s careful and thorough review, ensuring they align with current state curriculum standards, and effectively use the lesson plans. Use appropriate grade-level, data-driven, research-based teaching strategies to teach curriculum standards to all students and subgroups. Analyze recent formal state assessment results, including Value-Added and TVAAS Teacher Effect, and the latest system-and school-level Report Card, to study identified strengths and weaknesses and make appropriate classroom adjustments. Serve as a positive and active participant in the appropriate Professional Learning Community (school level and system level when applicable). Assess frequently students’ comprehension and application of expected curriculum standards. Take responsibility for all students’ mastery of applicable curriculum standards and significant academic growth. Prepare, administer, and correct tests and record results. Assign lessons and correct papers. Maintain order in the classroom and on the playground. Provide counseling to students when adjustment and academic problems arise. Discuss students’ academic and behavior problems with parents and suggest corrective action. Keep attendance and grade records as required by the school board. Observe students to detect signs of ill health or emotional disturbance and evaluate progress. Represent the school and the community in a positive manner. Report to the principal when reasonably suspected that a child’s health or welfare has been or appears to have been harmed as a result of abuse or neglect. Perform other work-related duties as assigned. Background and Screening Requirements To ensure the safety and welfare of students and staff, the district shall require criminal history background checks and fingerprinting of applicants for teaching positions and any other positions that require proximity to children. Additionally, satisfactory results from a required pre‑employment drug screen, as well as checks with various state and federal registries, are required before an applicant is actually employed by Franklin County Schools. #J-18808-Ljbffr
