Job Title: Heavy Duty/ Equipment Mechanic Overview: Suit-Kote Corporation, a leading Asphalt products manufacturer, road construction and maintenance and asphalt application engineering company is seeking candidates for qualified auto and heavy equipment mechanics. Whenever on Suit-Kote property or job sites, or operating Suit- Kote equipment, employees are expected to conduct themselves in a manner that promotes the safety of the employee, co-workers and others.Responsibilities/Job Duties:Diagnose and repair electrical, cooling, computer fuel, emissions, and hydraulic systems on HD trucks and trailersDiagnose and repair electrical, cooling, computer, emissions, fuel and hydraulic systems specialized on construction equipment ie. Chippers, pavers, rollers, mills, etc.Follow paper-flow procedures, including documenting correct mileage/hours and safety procedures and complete and maintain maintenance records and job ordersRoutine maintenance such as: changing oil, checking batteries, safety inspections, brake repairs, and lubricating equipment.Examine vehicles and equipment to determine if additional safety or repair work is needed.Required Skills/Abilities:Supply own tool set for heavy highway construction equipmentReliable transportation to and from workMinimum of 5 years experience in industry or heavy-duty trainingPhysical Organization and time management Must have or be willing to obtain an OSHA 10 Hour Safety CertificateBasic welding knowledge/ experienceWilling to report to onsite repair ordersAbility to work in a team settingCommunicate clearly and effectively with team membersPhysical Requirements:Flexibility in hours - overtime and weekend hours may be necessaryPassing a pre-employment drug and alcohol screening is required and a background check will be conductedMust be able to lift up to 100 poundsObserve and comply with necessary PPE requirementsMust be able to work in a noisy area with many odors presentBending, stretching, stooping, kneeling, crawling and squattingOther Preferred Qualities:NYS Inspector's LicenseCommercial Driver's LicenseObtain or willingness to obtain a Medical CardAbility to operate manual transmission or be willing to learnAbility to read and understand SDS Air brake certifiedPrevious industry equipment trainingWillingness to obtain company provided forklift trainingBasic computer skills (Microsoft Office) Basic math skillsSalary Range: $25-$45 Additional Duties:This job description in no way states or implies that these are the only duties to be performed.
