Job Description
The Manufacturing Technician (Mechanical Assembler) manually assembles and reworks large-scale electrical panels for data center systems, following established work instructions, blueprints, visual aids, and strict quality standards. This project focuses on disassembling units in the field, repairing and replacing bolts, and reassembling equipment to meet customer specifications while maintaining high safety and quality standards.
Responsibilities

• Manually disassemble large-scale electrical panel units containing approximately 1,3001,700 bolts and replace broken or improper bolts, ensuring all fasteners are tightened to the correct torque specifications.
• Assemble and reassemble units according to customer specifications, blueprints, and visual aids, ensuring all components are correctly placed and secured.
• Use hand tools and power tools such as rivet guns, torque wrenches, and other small tools to perform mechanical assembly and bolt replacement tasks.
• Operate bar code scanners and other production-related equipment to track work, materials, and completed tasks accurately.
• Work as part of a collaborative production team of approximately five people (four mechanical assemblers and one quality technician) to disassemble, repair, and reassemble units efficiently.
• Coordinate with teammates to organize tasks that require multiple team members, including team lifts and complex disassembly or reassembly activities.
• Visually inspect parts and assemblies for proper insertion, placement, and overall quality, identifying and correcting any defects or issues.
• Travel between multiple work sites, including data centers, warehouses, and distribution centers, while consistently wearing and maintaining proper PPE.
• Use a 3-foot ladder to access the tops of units and perform work at elevated but manageable heights as required by the task.
• Perform heavy lifting and repetitive mechanical tasks for extended periods while maintaining focus and attention to detail.
• Follow all safety procedures and site rules, including wearing required PPE at all times and complying with data center power-down and clearance processes before starting work on units.
• Complete required virtual training and on-site training sessions and apply the knowledge gained to work safely and effectively in operational data center environments.
• Utilize a personal computer with a Windows-based operating system and related software to access instructions, training materials, and documentation as needed.
• Apply common-sense understanding to carry out simple one- or two-step instructions and adapt to changing production priorities based on business demand.

Essential Skills

• Minimum of 3 years of experience as a manufacturing technician, mechanical assembler, or in other relevant hands-on mechanical or assembly roles.
• Demonstrated experience with mechanical assembly, including working with bolts, fasteners, and large mechanical structures.
• Proficiency using power tools and small hand tools such as rivet guns, torque wrenches, and other assembly tools in a production environment.
• Ability to read and interpret blueprints, visual aids, and simple written instructions, including short correspondence and memos.
• Experience with preventive maintenance, troubleshooting basic mechanical issues, and working with mechanical systems, including hydraulics.
• Ability to stand, walk, bend, and perform repetitive tasks for up to 1012 hours per day, with or without reasonable accommodation.
• Ability to lift and move materials weighing up to 40 pounds, with or without reasonable accommodation, using mechanical lifting devices and team lifts as needed.
• Capability to work comfortably with heavy lifting, repetitive work, and tasks requiring strong attention to detail.
• Ability to use a personal computer with a Windows-based operating system and related software to access instructions and training materials.
• Capacity to apply common sense understanding to follow simple one- or two-step instructions in a fast-paced environment.
• Willingness and ability to travel between multiple work sites, including operational data centers, warehouses, and distribution centers, as required by the project.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

• Experience working in production, assembly, or manufacturing environments with a focus on quality and safety.
• Expertise in machine operating, mechanical systems, and basic hydraulics is beneficial.
• Comfort working on ladders and at moderate heights, including use of a 3-foot ladder to reach the tops of units.
• Strong teamwork and communication skills, with the ability to coordinate tasks that require multiple team members.
• Ability to visually inspect parts and assemblies for proper insertion, placement, and overall quality.
• Familiarity with bar code scanners and basic production tracking tools.
• Willingness to complete all required virtual and on-site training prior to and during project work.
• Flexibility to adapt to changing schedules and business demands in a data center environment.

Work Environment
This role is based in operational data centers, warehouses, and distribution centers, working primarily on a day shift that typically runs between 5:00 a.m. and 7:00 p.m., with actual hours flexing based on business demand from the data center. Team members should be prepared to work 1012 hours per day and 67 days per week over the course of an 810 week project, with flexibility to take a day of rest when needed. Work is performed on large electrical panel units that must be powered down and cleared before repairs begin, requiring strict adherence to site safety protocols. The environment is hands-on and physically demanding, involving heavy lifting, repetitive mechanical tasks, ladder use, and close collaboration within teams of approximately five people. Proper PPE is mandatory at all times, including ANSI Type 2 Class E hard hats with chin strap, safety glasses, high-visibility vests, cut-resistant gloves, cut-resistant sleeves, durable work pants such as cargo pants or jeans, and composite-toe footwear (steel toes are not permitted). No entry to the work site is allowed without full PPE, and violations of PPE requirements may result in termination. Onboarding includes a mandatory 1-hour virtual training course that must be completed and certified before entering the job site, followed by three days of on-site training at a designated location, with hotel lodging arranged and mileage and per diem provided for travel. On-site instructional training on day one lasts approximately four hours before reporting to work stations, and this training is held Monday through Thursday only, so new team members do not start on Fridays.

Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $30.00 - $40.00/hr.
