The lists below are representative of the knowledge, skill and/or ability required.Minimum Qualifications:Travel: This position requires about 60% travel, including weekends. Accommodations are covered and per diem is provided during travel.Experience: General construction experience required. Commercial roofing experience is a plus.Driver's License: Not required but is a plus.Must be self-motivated, open-minded, and able to accept constructive criticismKnowledge, Skills, and Abilities:Knowledge of the basic safety techniques and proceduresAttention to detail, ability to prioritize tasks, and meet deadlines according to instructions receivedAbility to organize, plan, and execute work assignmentsInterpersonal skills necessary to work on a teamAbility to read and use tape measure, mark, or record distancesGeneral basic knowledge of construction materials and tools involved in the construction or repair of structuresAbility to identify problems and communicate them to his foreman in order to accomplish workAbility to identify and resolves problems in a timely manner according to instructions receivedEssential Functions:Clean up debris from the roof surface and surrounding propertyAssist with the installation of vapor barriers and/or layers of insulation on the roof decksCover exposed nail heads with roofing cement or caulking to prevent water leakage and rustAssist with the installation of partially overlapping layers of material over roof insulation surfacesAssist with covering roofs and exterior walls of structures with metal, single-ply systems, slate, asphalt, aluminum, wood, gravel, gypsum, and/or related materials, using brushes, knives, punches, hammers, and other toolsOperating vehicles, mechanized devices, or equipmentRepair cracks, defects, or damage, using proper materialsApply adhesives, caulking, sealants, or coatingsMust be able to meet the physical demands of the jobPhysical Demands:Requires standing up for long periods of timeRequires climbing ladders, scaffolds, and stairwaysRequires considerable use of your arms and legs and moving your whole body in order to climb, lift, balance, walk, and handle materialsRequires use of abdominal and lower back muscles to support part of the body repeatedly or continuously over time without giving out or fatiguingRequires seeing details at close rangeRequires repetitive movement, bending or twisting, kneeling, crouching, stooping, or crawlingRequires ability to stand, walk, lift, and carry items weighing 50 pounds regularlyWork Environment:Requires working in extremely bright or inadequate lighting conditions, in very hot (above 90 F degrees) or very cold (below 32 F degrees) temperatures, including exposure to sounds and noise levels that are distracting or uncomfortableIncludes exposure to contaminants, hazardous material, or equipmentMistakes are not easily correctable and have serious consequences, therefore safety procedures need to be followedRequires exposure to minor burns, cuts, bites, or stingsRequires exposure to high places or dangerous conditionsDisclaimer:The statements herein are intended to describe the general nature and level of work being performed by people assigned to this classification.
