CompleteRx is seeking a results-driven and visionary Director of Pharmacy to oversee pharmacy operations at Tallahassee Memorial Healthcare. You’ll have the opportunity to shape pharmacy programs, drive performance improvements, and partner with hospital leadership to elevate patient care at a 772-bed acute care facility located in Tallahassee, FL.

Sign on Bonus: $10,000

The Director of Pharmacy provides leadership and strategic direction at our partnered hospital while having the support and expertise of CompleteRx’s operations team as a resource. Your positive leadership and innovation will enable the hospital to provide the best services to the local communities.

Founded in 1948, Tallahassee Memorial HealthCare (TMH) is a private, nonprofit healthcare system serving North Florida and South Georgia. At the center of the system is a 772-bed acute care hospital providing advanced and specialized services, including the region’s only Level II Trauma Center, Primary Stroke Center, Level III Neonatal Intensive Care Unit and Pediatric Intensive Care Unit. TMH also provides comprehensive cancer care through its Cancer Center and includes a psychiatric hospital, multiple specialty care centers, residency programs and more than 50 affiliated physician practices.

What You Will Do

Evaluates operations on an ongoing basis to ensure safe, appropriate, cost-effective care delivery

• Develops, enforces, and maintains policies and procedures that promote cost-effective, appropriate, and safe drug use.
• Evaluates operations on an ongoing basis using principles of continuous process improvement.
• Develops, implements, checks, and retools action plans to address variances and improve efficiency.
• Participates in select Hospital committees.
• Leads the Antibiotic Stewardship Committee in conjunction with the Hospital's Infection Control leader.
• Develops and maintains a medical-staff-approved formulary.
• Supervises drug storage and preparation areas throughout the hospital.
• Provides for the educational needs of healthcare professionals and patients and their families.
• Ensures maintenance of an adequate drug supply. Ensures the integrity of the drug supply. Establishes specifications for the procurement of drugs, chemicals, and biologicals.
• Ensures strict control and accountability for drugs dispensed to patients or distributed to floor stock.
• Assures adequate control and documentation of controlled substances.
• Maintains a quality improvement plan for the department
• Ensures the pharmacy is in compliance with all federal, state, and other regulatory agency laws and standards.

Supervises, trains, mentors, and evaluates staff.

• Supervises pharmacy personnel.
• Recruits, promotes, disciplines, and terminates pharmacy staff.
• Develops job descriptions, performance standards, and performance goals.
• Evaluates and counsels staff on their performance.
• Prepares work schedules and monitors workload statistics. Maintains an appropriate staffing level.
• Provides for the educational needs of the pharmacy staff.
• Acts as a positive role model, mentor, and preceptor.
• Promotes individual professional growth.
• Communicates with staff and promotes staff ownership in problem-solving and participation in operational decision-making.

Prepares annual budget, controls and reduces costs, forecasts operational needs, and reviews expenditures to ensure budget limits are not exceeded.

• Prepares a pharmacy budget annually.
• Reviews monthly financial statistics and plans expenditures within budget guidelines.
• Monitors and justifies all expenses exceeding budgeted targets.
• Administers reports, documents, payroll records, employee surveys, and other required data.
• Ensures preparation and submission of patient charges and financial reports to administration in accordance with hospital policy.
• Ensures applicable training records, current licensures, and other records required required to document compliance are maintained in secure department files.
• Ensures compliance with hospital policies and procedures that apply to pharmacy services.
• Ensures compliance with all applicable Federal, State, and local laws, rules, and regulations.

Establishes the scope of services and develops annual implementation plans which contribute to the organizational strategic objectives.

• Develop and implement a strategic plan for the pharmacy that supports the mission and goals of the organization.
• Develop and implement pharmacy services in collaboration with associated department services.
• Develop, implement, and maintain a program that improves the quality of pharmacy services and supports the quality improvement plan of the organization.
• Participate in all committees/functions required by the organization including the Pharmacy and Therapeutics Committee.
• Establish productive collaborative relationships with physicians, nursing, administration, and other hospital staff.
• Meet customers' needs and expectations.

What You Will Need

• Bachelor of Science or PharmD degree required.
• Current Florida pharmacist license in good standing.
• Current Florida consultant pharmacist license in good standing.
• 3 years of inpatient hospital pharmacy management experience.
• 3-5 years of inpatient hospital pharmacy experience is required.
