As such, the hiring manager will consider basing this position in various North/South Carolina Duke Energy locations.This is the intermediate level of the EHS Consulting classification hierarchy. Employees at this level solve more complex problems, in environmental, health, and / or safety areas of specialization, with general supervision. Incumbents are expected to develop advanced skills and the ability to work with greater independence. They effectively apply fundamental concepts and procedures to work that is fairly complex and varied. (This position will be project based (2 - 4 projects), report directly to the PMC Manager of Health & Safety and be a part of the PMC H&S team. This position will require the EHS consultant to travel to multiple projects, should have a good driving record, and will be provided a Duke Energy vehicle for company travel. ResponsibilitiesKnowledgeable of the organization, procedures and assigned customers and analyzes and understands advanced-level information, past practices and business objectives to make appropriate recommendations to management/assigned customers.Monitors the practices of assigned organizational EHS area to facilitate compliance with company and/or regulatory policies and requirements in which to mitigate risks. Examples include providing advanced-leveled regulatory-required and internal environmental or safety reports, advanced-leveled support assigned environmental or safety training programs, advanced-leveled support with the development and maintenance of procedures and programs to assist facilities in complying with environmental or safety laws and regulations, and to ensure that Duke Energy work procedures address compliance guidance and helping track regulatory changes, legislative activities and industry standardsResearches, develops, and/or evaluates advanced-level programs, policies or activities within the discipline they are assigned which have moderate impact or level of complexity; solves a range of moderate problems and develops solutions using standard-moderate procedures.Provides some advanced level of information/consultation to management/assigned customers on existing EHS programs and policies. Examples include serving as an career expert for higher-level technical programs and compliance issues and supports company’s environmental or safety goals, strategies, programs and processes. The incumbent develops and maintains procedures and programs to assist facilities in complying with environmental or safety laws and regulations. Ensures that Duke Energy work procedures address compliance guidance. Assists with tracking advanced-level regulatory changes, advance-level legislative activities and advance-level industry standards and assists with identifying needed changes to facility’s compliance programs. Works with federal, state and local regulatory authorities to interpret regulations and laws. Supports Duke Energy on various internal/external industry committees and teams.Develops positive working relationships with peers, customers, employees and management to effectively complete work activities.Basic/Required QualificationsBachelor’s degree in Engineering orBachelor’s degree in Other Related Degree orBachelor’s degree in Health and Safety orBachelor’s degree in ScienceAnd, 3 plus years related work experienceOR in lieu of a Bachelor’s degree(s) and 3 plus years work related experience, High School/GED AND 7 plus year(s) related work experienceDesired Qualifications Master's degree in Other Related Degree orMaste'rs degree in Health and Safety orMaster's degree in ScienceIn addition to desired degree, 10 years related work experienceCSP and/or CIH and/or CHST and/or OHSTAdditional Preferred Qualifications Certifications that are current:OSHA 500OSHA 510OSHA 30Certified in First Aid/CPR/AED/BBPOSHA Compliance/RegulationsExperience in H&S oversight of Power Plant/Heavy ConstructionWorking ConditionsOffice environment with exposure to PC terminal and keyboardOutside work during all seasons.Occasional overtime, weekend, outage, callout work, and possible night shift coverage.Field, work site, facility visitation required.Vehicle travel involved to field location, typical travel safety factorsMobility Classification - 100% FieldWork will be performed in various field locations, as needed, after the onboarding period.
