Job Description:
As an Azure Cloud Engineer, you will be responsible for cloud engineering, infrastructure support, operations, monitoring, and application support within a large enterprise Azure environment. This role combines cloud platform administration, operational support, security compliance, troubleshooting, and infrastructure optimization to ensure highly available, secure, and scalable cloud solutions. You will work closely with architects, engineers, support teams, and business stakeholders to maintain Azure services, support critical applications, improve operational processes, and ensure compliance with security and governance standards. The ideal candidate will possess strong Azure expertise, cloud operations experience, automation skills, and a proactive approach to troubleshooting and continuous improvement.

Key Responsibilities:

• Design, implement, maintain, and optimize Azure cloud resources and services.

• Support cloud infrastructure operations, application workloads, and enterprise platform services.

• Ensure compliance with organizational security standards, identity and access management policies, network controls, and cloud governance requirements.

• Maintain and improve cloud documentation, naming standards, tagging strategies, and governance artifacts.

• Conduct access reviews, role assignments, and least-privilege access evaluations.

• Manage vendor-required infrastructure and platform upgrades while ensuring compatibility and stability.

• Design and implement highly available, fault-tolerant, and resilient Azure solutions.

• Monitor Azure environments, applications, and cloud services to ensure performance, uptime, and reliability.

• Troubleshoot issues related to connectivity, security, access management, infrastructure performance, and service availability.

• Perform root-cause analysis using Azure Monitor, Log Analytics, metrics, traces, and diagnostic tools.

• Analyze system performance and recommend improvements to optimize resource utilization and application performance.

• Participate in operational support activities including incident reviews, maintenance planning, environment monitoring, and production support.

• Triage production issues and coordinate timely resolution while documenting findings and corrective actions.

• Develop change requests, implementation plans, deployment procedures, and rollback strategies.

• Support integrations, data movement, and interoperability between cloud services and enterprise applications.

• Implement and maintain security solutions including Key Vaults, certificates, credentials, secrets management, and privileged access controls.

• Apply regulatory and security compliance requirements when evaluating systems, logging, and operational practices.

• Collaborate with technical teams to promote effective use of SaaS, PaaS, and IaaS technologies.

• Support multiple concurrent technical initiatives and operational priorities.

• Participate in scheduled after-hours maintenance and support activities when necessary.

Required Skills, Experiences, Education, and Competencies:

• Minimum 3 years of hands-on experience supporting Microsoft Azure environments and services.

• Minimum 3 years of experience supporting enterprise cloud-hosted applications, infrastructure platforms, and transactional business systems.

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Information Technology, or equivalent professional experience.

• Strong experience with Azure infrastructure administration, deployment, monitoring, and troubleshooting.

• Experience implementing highly available, resilient, and fault-tolerant cloud solutions.

• Strong understanding of Azure security, governance, compliance, networking, and Identity & Access Management (IAM).

• Experience with Entra ID (Azure Active Directory), Single Sign-On (SSO), and access management solutions.

• Experience administering and supporting Office 365 services.

• Hands-on experience with Azure Virtual Desktop (AVD) environments.

• Experience implementing and supporting Azure backup and disaster recovery solutions, including Rubrik backup and recovery technologies.

• Experience administering privileged access management and credential vaulting solutions, including Secret Server or similar platforms.

• Strong scripting skills using PowerShell and/or Python for automation and operational support.

• Experience with Azure Monitor, Log Analytics, Application Insights, and enterprise monitoring solutions.

• Ability to create and maintain network, application, and infrastructure topology documentation.

• Experience supporting Power Apps and Microsoft Power Platform solutions is preferred.

• Strong understanding of cloud networking, application integrations, and data flow architectures.

• Experience managing certificates, secrets, credentials, and secure storage solutions.

• Strong troubleshooting, analytical, and problem-solving abilities.

• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

• Experience working in Windows server and enterprise infrastructure environments.

• Ability to manage multiple priorities and work collaboratively across cross-functional teams.

• Microsoft Azure certifications are preferred.

• Must be able to successfully complete required background screening and security clearance requirements as applicable.

The hourly range for roles of this nature are $50.00 to $80.00/hr. Rates are heavily dependent on skills, experience, location, and industry.
