Ambulance Claims Billing Manager

Med-Bill is seeking an experienced Ambulance Claims Billing Manager to lead our Claims Department. This is a leadership position responsible for overseeing the complete ambulance claims process, ensuring compliance with Medicare, Medicaid, commercial insurance, and state and federal regulations while driving quality, accuracy, and productivity.

Position Summary

The Ambulance Claims Billing Manager is responsible for managing all aspects of ambulance claims processing, claim quality, regulatory compliance, staff development, workflow management, and claim resolution. This position focuses exclusively on claims management and does not include payment posting or Accounts Receivable follow-up responsibilities.

Responsibilities

  • Manage the daily operations of the Ambulance Claims Department.
  • Supervise, coach, and develop Claims Specialists.
  • Ensure claims are submitted accurately and in a timely manner.
  • Monitor department productivity and quality metrics.
  • Perform quality assurance reviews and claim audits.
  • Maintain compliance with all Medicare, Medicaid, commercial payer, HIPAA, and state billing regulations.
  • Ensure proper use of ICD-10, HCPCS, CPT, modifiers, and ambulance origin/destination coding.
  • Review and validate documentation prior to claim submission.
  • Oversee electronic claim submission and troubleshoot ANSI 837 claim errors.
  • Work directly with clearinghouses to resolve electronic billing issues.
  • Manage claim edits, rejections, and front-end billing errors.
  • Ensure compliance with Medicare ambulance billing guidelines.
  • Review and validate:
    • Physician Certification Statements (PCS)
    • Advance Beneficiary Notices (ABNs)
    • Prior Authorization requirements
  • Conduct ambulance claim audits to improve first-pass acceptance rates.
  • Develop and maintain departmental Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs).
  • Train staff on changing CMS, Medicare, Medicaid, and commercial payer regulations.
  • Collaborate with Operations, Compliance, and Client Services to improve documentation and billing outcomes.
  • Generate productivity, quality, and compliance reports for leadership.
