DevOps Software Engineer

Salary: $61,000 - 101,000 per year Requirements:
- Formal software engineering training or certification, plus 4+ years of relevant hands-on experience
- Practical background in system design, application development, testing, and operational reliability
- Experience developing, debugging, and maintaining code in a large corporate setting using one or more modern programming languages and database query languages
- Hands-on use of enterprise-approved AI-assisted development tools, with the ability to review, verify, and refine AI-generated output for accuracy, performance, and security
- Understanding of responsible AI practices in engineering workflows, including data sensitivity, secure handling of inputs and outputs, and resiliency and security expectations
- Solid grasp of the software development life cycle
- Strong knowledge of agile practices, including CI/CD, application resiliency, and security
- Proficiency with Kubernetes, cloud platforms, Java and/or Python, and UNIX/Bash scripting
- Experience with CI/CD tooling, ideally Jules - Enterprise CI/CD, and source control platforms such as Bitbucket or GitHub
- Experience using development environments and tools such as IntelliJ and VS Code
- Working knowledge of Tomcat/Apache, certificate management, AutoSys scheduling, and observability/logging platforms such as Geneos, Dynatrace, and Splunk
- Proven ability to strengthen operational stability through automation, documentation, monitoring enhancements, preventative fixes, communication, escalation, and problem management
- Experience supporting Pega Infinity applications is preferred
- Experience supporting banking, payments, or payment investigations applications and workflows is preferred
- Familiarity with enterprise change management, production support controls, and operational risk practices is preferred
- Experience in high-availability, high-volume, regulated technology environments is preferred
- Execute software solutions, including design, development, and technical troubleshooting, while solving complex problems beyond routine approaches
- Build secure, high-quality production code and maintain synchronous algorithms across appropriate systems
- Use enterprise-authorized AI coding tools to improve code quality, delivery speed, and productivity across complex work, while contributing reusable patterns and learnings to the team
- Apply knowledge of software development life cycle tools and automation capabilities to increase the value delivered through automation
- Create architecture and design artifacts for complex applications and ensure software code meets design constraints
- Analyze large and diverse data sets, develop visualizations and reporting, and use findings to support continuous improvement of applications and systems
- Identify hidden issues and patterns in data to improve coding hygiene and system architecture
- Develop automation, scripts, and operational tooling with Java, Python, and UNIX/Bash to streamline build, deployment, support, and maintenance activities
- Administer and troubleshoot Tomcat/Apache stacks, related middleware and infrastructure dependencies, and certificate lifecycle activities
- Operate and improve monitoring, alerting, observability, and logging using Geneos, Dynatrace, Splunk, or equivalent tools
