Balchem employs over 1,400 people worldwide who are engaged in diverse activities, committed to developing the company into global market leadership positions.Position SummaryWe are seeking a diligent packaging operator to join our team with 1st, 2nd, and 3rd shifts available. You will play a crucial role in our production process by efficiently running packaging machinery, inspecting products, and maintaining a clean and organized workspace. Our ideal candidate has high attention to detail and the ability to work in a fast-paced environment while maintaining high-quality standards at all times.Essential FunctionsFill bags or totes to proper weight according to plant and outside agency specificationsEnsure that the bags are properly sealed so that no powder is leaking out of sealStack finished product on pallets in a neat and orderly manner to facilitate good handling of the pallets in transportProperly label product according to instructions including product code, lot number and any special markingsSample product for lab and customer and inspect powder samples for any specks and foreign matter to ensure high quality of product and prevent contamination following Standard Operating ProceduresMaintain proper documentation of product packaged as well as rework and scrap produced to ensure accuracy of records; this includes records for metal detector checks, weight checks, equipment and utensil checksInspect equipment to ensure it is in top working order, reporting any problems to the maintenance departmentFollow all Good Manufacturing Practices (GMPs), Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) and HACCP Programs for safety of self and others as well as overall compliancePractice good housekeepingStaging ingredients, cleaning your area and assisting fellow employees in cleaning or setting up other areasClean and sanitize packaging equipment and work area to eliminate contamination sourcesConduct proficient CIP and COP processes to ensure cleanliness of equipmentPerforms general maintenance skills with basic hand tools as neededOther duties may be assignedRequirementsHigh School diploma or general education degree (GED)You must be equipped with strong motivation, organization, time management, and communication skills (both orally and written)You must be able to read and comprehend simple instructionsHave excellent attention to detail and the ability to multi-task and prioritizePossess effective communication and conflict resolution skillsThe ability to distinguish colors is requiredAbility to give and welcome feedback and contribute to building a positive team spirit.Working ConditionsYou will continually be required to stand, walk, use hands for handling or feeling objects, talk, and use your vision and hearing abilitiesRegularly, you will be required to climb, balance, stoop, kneel, crouch, and crawl, following proper ergonomic principlesPeriodically, you will need to lift up to 50 pounds, using safe and proper lifting techniques and equipmentYou will be engaged in repetitive motions including but not limited to tasks associated with unboxing, loading, moving, and packaging productWhat We Offer1st Shift (7am-3pm), 2nd Shift (3pm-11pm), 3rd Shift (11pm-7am)Shift differential rate: 2nd Shift ($1 extra per hour), 3rd Shift ($1.50 extra per hour)Medical/Dental/Vision Plan Insurance after 1st month401(k) with 6% employer match after 60 daysPaid Time OffUniforms and safety shoes providedTuition Reimbursement after 2 years (work-related)Free CerealPlease note that this job description is not designed to cover or contain a comprehensive listing of activities, duties, or responsibilities that are required of the employee for the job.
