Respiratory Therapist

This is a 13-week contract position.

Day shift, 3x12.0 hours.

The Respiratory Therapist provides quality patient care, administering intensive respiratory care and facilitating patient transport as medically prescribed, within the professional scope of practice and with minimal supervision. Responsibilities include evaluating patients and recommending treatment plans, explaining treatment procedures and associated equipment to patients, and providing necessary discharge education. The therapist conducts physician-prescribed treatments, operating various ventilatory equipment, delivering medications, and ensuring proper ventilation and oxygenation.

• Administer treatments using both invasive and non-invasive ventilatory equipment, oxygen and aerosol devices, and nebulizers.
• Perform chest physiotherapy and suctioning through various methods (oropharyngeal, nasal, tracheal).
• Monitor oximetry and capnography according to established policies.
• Review patient's chest x-rays for further evaluation as necessary.
• Conduct 12-Lead EKGs and basic arrhythmia recognition.
• Assist with respiratory care procedures such as bronchoscopy, chest tube placement, and tracheostomy care.
• Perform arterial punctures and assess ventilation efficiency.
• Record all pertinent information regarding treatments and patient responses on respiratory care records and patient charts.
• Communicate effectively with attending and pulmonary physicians regarding therapy efficiency.

Qualified candidates must have a valid Respiratory Therapist license and relevant certifications. Experience with mechanical ventilation and respiratory care protocols is essential.
