Associate Mental Health Clinician

History : Rise Up Industries (RUI) was founded in 2013 as a 501(c)(3) nonprofit, modeled after Homeboy Industries in Los Angeles, the world’s most successful gang intervention and reentry program. In March 2016, we opened our Reentry Program, which assists formerly incarcerated, previously gang involved individuals to successfully reenter society; thereby reducing the gang population and the recidivism rate. In August 2024, RUI launched Rise Up Leadership Academy (RULA). RULA is a gang-prevention program that serves youth beginning in 5th grade and will continue to provide services through high school graduation. Position Overview Rise Up Industries is seeking an Associate Mental Health Clinician to support formerly incarcerated individuals and youth at risk of gang involvement. This role includes providing direct clinical services and contributing to reentry and violence prevention efforts. Supervised hours of experience are provided by a Licensed Marriage Family Therapy to meet the pre-licensing accrual hours necessary for licensure in the Associate’s related field under jurisdiction of the Board of Behavioral Science. Key Responsibilities Clinical Services Provide individual and group therapy to formerly incarcerated individuals, focusing on trauma recovery, reentry challenges, substance use, and behavioral issues. Support families in understanding the social, emotional, and environmental factors influencing gang involvement by conducting psychoeducation groups addressing intergenerational trauma, conflict resolution, and parenting practices using a culturally responsive, trauma-informed approach. Use evidence-based practices, including CBT, DBT, MI, and trauma-informed care tailored to high-risk populations. Conduct risk assessments (e.g., suicide, homicide, substance use) and develop safety plans as needed. Provide crisis intervention, de-escalation, and stabilization for clients experiencing acute psychological distress. Program Development & Case Management Provide support to the Reentry Program Manager andMember Services team by reporting key metrics, coordinating session schedules, and communicating pertinent information. Collaborate with team members, community partners, and relevant stakeholders (e.g., case managers, probation officers, family members) to coordinate care and develop comprehensive treatment plans. Lead coping skills and psychoeducational workshops with reentry program members focusing on emotional regulation, conflict resolution, and relapse prevention. Facilitate caretaker workshops focusing on emotional regulation, conflict resolution, and empower caregivers with tools to support youth in resisting gang affiliation and navigating high risk environments. Provide professional development and training in trauma-informed care, behavior management, and mental health first aid. Maintain timely, accurate documentation in compliance with agency, state, and federal guidelines (e.g. HIPAA). Participate in occasional after hours crisis support. Additional responsibilities as assigned. Qualifications Required: Master’s or Doctoral degree in Social Work, Psychology, Counseling, or Marriage and Family Therapy. Experience working with criminal justice-involved or gang-impacted populations. Strong understanding of trauma, PTSD, community violence, and systemic barriers affecting formerly incarcerated populations. Must be able to respond to crisis calls outside of normal business hours on occasion. Preferred: Lived experience related to the population served is highly valued. Familiarity with culturally relevant, anti-oppressive, and restorative practices. #J-18808-Ljbffr
