Special Recreational Facilities Manager

Facilities: City of Princeton Aquatic Facilities and Recreational Properties Position Type: Seasonal/ Part-Time or Full-Time Reports To: City Manager and/or Special Facilities Director Hourly pay range: $11.00–$18.00 per hour, depending on experience, certifications, and service. Job Summary The Special Recreational Facilities Manager is responsible for overseeing the daily operations, staffing, and maintenance of the City of Princeton’s recreational facilities, including the Wave Pool, Swimming Pool, and Miniature Golf Course. The Manager supervises facility staff, ensures safe operations, maintains compliance with local, state, and federal regulations, and promotes a safe and positive recreational environment for the public. The position works closely with Public Works to maintain facility infrastructure and water quality systems while managing staff scheduling, customer relations, and overall facility operations. Work is performed both indoors and outdoors at the City’s recreational facilities including the aquatic center and miniature golf course. The position may be exposed to sun, heat, humidity, water, and moderate noise levels. Evening, weekend, and holiday work may be required during peak recreational seasons. The City of Princeton, WV, is an Equal Opportunity Employer Essential Job Functions Oversee daily operations of the City’s recreational facilities including the wave pool, swimming pool, miniature golf course, and associated buildings. Ensure safe facility conditions, manage daily opening and closing procedures, and enforce operational and safety rules. Respond to and manage emergencies including first aid and CPR incidents when necessary. Coordinate with Public Works to monitor and maintain water quality and chemical balance for aquatic facilities. Recruit, train, schedule, supervise, and evaluate lifeguards, concession staff, and other facility employees. Address employee performance issues and assist in resolving workplace concerns. Direct cleaning and maintenance activities for the pool, miniature golf course, bathhouse, and equipment. Identify facility maintenance needs and coordinate repairs with appropriate departments. Oversee concession operations and facility admissions or pass management. Respond to customer inquiries, complaints, and feedback while promoting positive public engagement. Foster positive working relationships with employees and the general public while motivating staff to perform effectively. Perform other related duties as assigned by management. Min: $18.00 Max: $18.00 Pay Frequency Hourly Qualifications Demonstrated experience in management, leadership, communication, and organizational skills. Ability to make sound decisions, solve problems, and work effectively under pressure. Experience supervising employees and managing public recreational facilities preferred. Certified Pool Operator (CPO) Training or ability to obtain within a reasonable time after employment. CPR/AED for Professional Rescuers and First Aid certification (American Red Cross or equivalent), or ability to obtain within a reasonable time after employment. Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities Strong leadership and supervisory abilities. Knowledge of aquatic facility safety practices and operational procedures. Ability to coordinate staff schedules and facility operations effectively. Ability to communicate clearly with employees, city officials, and the public. Ability to address customer concerns and maintain positive community relations. Ability to maintain regulatory compliance and safety standards. Physical Requirements Ability to move throughout recreational facilities for extended periods of time. Ability to respond quickly in emergency situations.
