Details:

• 26-52 week contracts
• These positions are days, afternoons and evening shifts.
• Candidate must clear the state run Criminal History Form before starting. This can take up to 4 weeks to clear, so please express patience during this process.

Duties:

• Registered Nurses 1 coordinate and provide direct nursing care to incarcerated individuals, as well as offer clinical supervision and training to Graduate Nurses, Licensed Practical Nurses and direct care staff. Incumbents conduct health assessments, prepare and implement nursing care plans, diagnose and treat individuals' responses to actual, potential, or diagnosed health problems through nursing services, such as case-finding, health teaching and counseling, and the provision of care supportive to or restorative of life and well-being.
• Registered Nurses 1 consult on nursing matters with treatment teams prior to administering treatments and nursing procedures.
• They will also serve as members of interdisciplinary health care teams and health-related committee.
• Medication Management: Administering daily medication, including controlled substances, and managing inmate compliance. Clinical Care: Taking vital signs, performing physical assessments, dressing wounds, and conducting health screenings.
• Emergency Response: Responding to medical emergencies within the facility.
• Documentation: Recording inmate health data, updates, and treatments accurately.
• Safety & Compliance: Following strict security protocols while providing care in a clinical setting.

Qualifications

• RN NY license required
• BLS required
• Skills: Strong communication, composure in emergency situations, and the ability to work with a diverse offender population.

Work Environment

• Setting: In-prison medical clinics.
• Mohawk CF is a medium security facility, however, Walsh RMU is a maximum security center located within Mohawk CF.
