Join a dedicated healthcare team in a regional medical center serving the heart of the Midwest. This full-time, day-shift Medical Assistant role supports patient care within an ENT clinic, working closely with licensed nurses, physicians, and advanced practice providers.

General Summary

The Medical Assistant operates within their scope to provide compassionate and efficient patient care. This role demands strong organizational skills, professionalism, excellent customer service, attention to detail, multitasking ability, critical thinking, and adaptability in a fast-paced clinical environment.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

• Adhere to established safety protocols including infection prevention and safe patient handling.
• Escort patients, obtain vital signs and EKGs, verify medications and allergies, and document medical histories and visit reasons accurately and promptly.
• Manage phone communications, route messages, and act as a liaison between patients and providers.
• Communicate test results to patients, assist with medication renewals and authorizations, and administer medications as ordered.
• Perform point-of-care lab testing and collect specimens for laboratory analysis.
• Schedule appointments, surgeries, and diagnostic procedures as directed.
• Complete necessary paperwork, prior authorizations, referrals, and documentation timely.
• Maintain supply inventory, clean and stock exam rooms, and educate patients on electronic health record benefits.
• Assist in orienting and training new medical assistants.
• Demonstrate accountability, teamwork, adaptability, and maintain excellent attendance and punctuality.

Education

Completion of an accredited Medical Assistant or Medical Specialist program or equivalent experience. High school diploma required.

Experience

At least one year of experience as a Medical Assistant or related medical specialist preferred. Experience in a clinical setting is advantageous.

Certification and Licenses

• Registered Medical Assistant (RMA) or Certified Medical Assistant (CMA) preferred.
• American Heart Association Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required.

Mental and Physical Requirements

Requires considerable mental focus. Physical demands include lifting up to 35 lbs, frequent walking, standing, turning, carrying, pushing, pulling, stooping, crouching, twisting, and reaching.

Working Conditions

Exposure to infectious and communicable diseases and occasional interaction with hostile individuals. Minimal physical discomfort expected.
