Groundskeeper II

Groundskeeper IIPerforms routine grounds maintenance that may include watering, raking, mowing, weeding, planting and trash/litter removal, snow removal and seasonal decorating. Operates trucks and/or powered grounds equipment. Must be able to work an occasional flexible schedule during the Summer Concert Series, snow removal season, and emergency Ground situations.Essential Job Functions:Grounds: Irrigates, mows, rakes and trims lawns; picks up and disposes of litter; trims and edges around walks, flower beds, and walls using clippers and edging tools; performs weeding; lays sod; assists with small construction tasks such as excavating and handling and or transportation of equipment and materials; ensures proper care in the use and maintenance of equipment and supplies; promotes continuous improvement of workplace safety and environmental practices; ensures proper snow removal for safety of guests and staff; assists with decorating the grounds and interior for seasonal décor; assists with irrigation & maintenance of water features; operates powered equipment including ATV, skid steer, and gators.Event Setup: Sets up tents, chairs, tables, etc as needed; directs traffic and general duties as assigned by Grounds Supervisor and Event Coordinator.Safety: Obeys safety rules of St. John's United; identifies, reports, and/or corrects obvious safety hazards; attends mandatory safety in-services.Mission/Customer Service: Supports the growth and actively engages in the Eden Alternative philosophy, including a work environment with plants and animals. Follows the St. John's Guidelines for Customer Service.Employee Responsibilities: Follows policy and procedures on annual TB testing; follows policy and procedures on annual influenza vaccinations; attends all mandatory in-services; performs other duties as assigned by the Grounds Supervisor or person in charge of area where work is being done.Requirements:Minimum Requirements: High school diploma or GED preferred. Prior experience and/or knowledge in related field preferred. A valid Montana driver's license.Knowledge, skills, and abilities required: Ability to read, understand, follow and enforce safety precautions; knowledge of grounds maintenance and turf equipment operations; ability perform grounds maintenance tasks; ability to use hand and power tools applicable to trade; ability to perform grounds maintenance such as laying sod; ability to understand and follow specific instructions and procedures; ability to lift and manipulate heavy objects.Physical Demands: Requires heavy physical work more than 70% of the time, including lifting up to 50 pounds, pushing, pulling, carrying, walking, and bending for prolonged periods of time.Working Conditions: Work involves considerable exposure to unusual elements, such as extreme temperatures, dirt, dust, fumes, smoke, unpleasant odors, and/or loud noises. Work environment involves some exposure to hazards or physical risks, which require following basic safety precautions. Work involves exposure to plants and animals within the environment. Normal health care environment.
