Job Title Captain: Greensville Correctional Center #01093 & #00042 State Role Title Security Manager II Hiring Range $66,518.00 - $113,266.00 Agency & Location Dept of Corr – Central Admin; Greensville Correctional Center Responsibilities Direct daily activities of security supervisors and support staff as shift commander in an institutional setting. Coordinate and review the work of others on an assigned shift to ensure a safe, secure, and productive environment. Lead, develop, and counsel staff, managing work schedules, duty rosters, and performance. Conduct ongoing inspections to ensure compliance with security post audit, policies, and procedures governing all aspects of institutional operations. Interact with management, staff, visitors, inmates, and the public to maintain orderly and secure operations. Minimum Qualifications High school diploma or equivalent; valid Operator’s License. Current Virginia Department of Criminal Justice Services (DCJS) Certification. Working knowledge of departmental policies, institutional policies, operating practices, procedures, and inmate programs. Progressive security working experience within the Virginia Department of Corrections, including supervision of corrections staff. Experience planning, scheduling, and/or organizing work for others, including timekeeping and duty roster management. Demonstrated ability to receive, understand, follow, and give oral and written instructions. Working knowledge in the use of firearms, radio equipment, physical control devices, electric, and electronic controls. Additional Considerations LEAD Graduate or equivalent applicable experience or training. Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, and Microsoft Office Programs. Knowledge and experience with Evidence Based Practices.
