General Duties and Responsibilities Manage daily security operations, directing and assigning work to staff. Organize and maintain compliance with city‑mandated life safety requirements. Conduct, facilitate, oversee, and speak in meetings and training classes. Develop, implement, supervise, and maintain safety programs that are fresh and engaging for management and staff. Audit safety procedures across departments as needed. Manage staff, including training, regular meetings, performance reviews, and employment decisions such as discipline, compensation, promotion, and hiring. Prepare accident reports and conduct accident investigations in accordance with company guidelines. Participate in the management of workers’ compensation in conjunction with Human Resources. Supervise proper execution of modified duty programs. Ensure quality service delivery and maintain employee morale. Prepare for and conduct pre‑shift meetings. Observe and evaluate subordinate activities daily, rating performance for later reviews. Counsel subordinates to improve performance. Respond to emergencies and make critical decisions to protect guests, visitors, and employees. Provide leadership and supervision to ensure departmental efficiency. Train, mentor, supervise, and develop subordinates for continuous improvement. Serve as first contact for emergency agencies, including police, fire, and other first responders. Fill vacancies for special details and department needs as required. Complete daily paperwork. Perform miscellaneous job‑related duties as assigned. Transcribe information accurately from handwritten memos and recordings. Participate in hotel programs such as operations meetings, the lobby greeter program, and general meetings. Support the needs of a diverse clientele and building tenants. Notify management of all major incidents occurring during the watch. Manage VIP details with absolute discretion. Experience and Requirements 2+ years direct, related experience as a security officer in a hotel environment; supervisory experience preferred. High school diploma or equivalent. Ability to meet physical demands of the position, including walking and standing for extended periods and lifting or carrying up to 50 pounds. Flexible schedule, including early mornings, late nights, overnights, weekends, and holidays. Computer proficiency as required by the department and hotel operations. Excellent verbal and written English communication skills. Calm under extreme pressure and able to handle stressful situations in a multicultural environment. Ability to work outdoors under extreme weather conditions. Handle sensitive situations with respect, patience, tact, and diplomacy. Coordinate safety emergencies with local authorities as needed.
