Teacher Aide

Wages and Schedule 2026/2027 Wages currently being negotiated—Anticipated Salary Increase Various Buildings / Classroom Aide & Personal Care Aide / 10 month 6 to 6.5 hours Responsibilities Classroom Aide Assists in maintaining a classroom environment that will help students focus and remain on task. Assists with individuals or groups who need drill in a particular skill or content area. Follows student behavior plans consistently and firmly and assists in the record keeping necessary to maintain the individual behavioral/academic plan for each student. Assists teacher with the preparation of instructional materials. Supervises independent student work. Assists teacher(s) at arrival and dismissal times as needed. Helps keep supplies and materials in order and ready for use. Physical condition commensurate with the demands of the position. Does related work as assigned. Personal Care Aide Assists with individuals or groups who need drill in a particular skill. Prepares instructional materials. Supervises independent student work. Arranges bulletin boards. Obtains, sets up, operates and returns instructional materials. Duplicates and collates instructional materials. Reading and storytelling. Assists in the record keeping necessary to maintain the individual educational plan for each student. Assists at arrival and dismissal times both at the loading area and in the building. Assists sick or injured children who should be taken to the health office. Helps keep supplies and materials in order, helps prepare supplies and materials for use; cleans up and puts away materials after their use. Guides in the movement of children in Music, Art and Physical Education. Cares for an individual child with soiled clothes or behavior problems. Cleans individual children as the needs arise. Assists student in cafeteria if required. Physical condition commensurate with the demands of the position. Does related work as assigned. Qualifications Possesses a high school diploma or equivalency diploma. Is able to type at a reasonable rate of speed. Has experience working with children with handicapped conditions. Has a sensitivity for working with individuals in need of personal care (preferred). Possesses prior experience working with children with behavioral problems.
