The salary range above represents this position's earning potential. The anticipated hiring range for this position will be $36.89 to $47.91 per hour, based on the candidate's qualifications and experience.

The Volunteer Center serves as Montgomery County's primary resource for volunteerism, helping residents find meaningful ways to contribute while supporting organizations that rely on volunteers to achieve their missions.

WHO WE ARE LOOKING FOR

The Montgomery County Volunteer Center is seeking an experienced professional to serve as a Senior Fellow Program Manager (Outreach & Engagement Manager). This position provides leadership for outreach, community engagement, volunteer recruitment, and partnership development efforts that expand volunteerism and strengthen connections between residents, nonprofit organizations, and County government. Working closely with the Volunteer Center Manager, the selected candidate will help increase awareness of volunteer opportunities, build relationships with community partners, and support initiatives that encourage civic engagement across Montgomery County. This position supports the Montgomery County Volunteer Center by leading the development, coordination, and implementation of outreach and engagement strategies that strengthen volunteer participation across the County. The role centers on building connections between residents and community organizations through effective communications, meaningful engagement opportunities, and collaborative partnerships that advance service and civic engagement. Key responsibilities include, but are not limited to: Lead outreach and engagement efforts to increase participation in volunteer service throughout Montgomery County. Develop and implement marketing and communications strategies that promote Volunteer Center programs, services, and volunteer opportunities. Build and maintain partnerships with nonprofit organizations, community groups, businesses, and government agencies. Serve as a liaison between the Volunteer Center and partner organizations to strengthen collaboration and expand volunteer engagement. Coordinate volunteer initiatives and connect organizations with Volunteer Center resources and services. Produce and host the County's Make a Difference cable television program, highlighting volunteers, organizations, and community impact. Develop and manage social media content that promotes volunteer opportunities, Volunteer Center programs and services, community partnerships, and volunteer impact. Support the planning and implementation of countywide volunteer events, including the MLK Day of Service and Montgomery Serves Awards. Contribute to strategic initiatives that advance equitable and inclusive community engagement and volunteerism. This individual may also provide leadership for additional Volunteer Center programs and special projects as organizational needs evolve. This is a temporary, part-time Senior Fellow position with no benefits. Duration: 12 months. May be extended for up to an additional six (6) months, subject to program needs and approval. Hours: Up to 600 hours annually. Schedule: Approximately 11.5 hours per week, primarily in-person on Tuesday and Thursday. Senior Fellow Program Managers serve at the discretion of the County Executive and are subject to budget availability, operational needs, and program continuation. This position requires the ability to attend meetings or perform work at locations outside the office. Work Schedule: Flexibility is required as program activities, community events, trainings, or outreach sessions may take place during evening or weekend hours. Telework: This position may be eligible for limited hybrid telework, up to three days per week after the initial training period. Experience Seven (7) years of professional-level experience in areas such as community outreach, stakeholder engagement, communications, marketing, partnership development, or other closely related program work. Education Graduation from an accredited college or university with a bachelor's degree. Equivalency An equivalent combination of education and experience may be substituted. Medical Protocol This position requires completion of a pre-employment Medical History Form and a drug screening to assess your ability to safely perform the essential duties of the role. The applications of those individuals meeting the minimum qualifications will be reviewed to determine the extent, relevancy of training, and experience in the following areas: Experience building and maintaining partnerships with nonprofit organizations, community groups, businesses, or government agencies. Experience developing and implementing outreach, engagement, marketing, communications, or public awareness initiatives. Experience tracking program data, measuring engagement outcomes, or preparing reports. Experience producing media or video content such as interviews, segments, television programming, or other digital media. Experience managing volunteer programs, volunteer engagement activities, or community service initiatives. Experience planning and coordinating events, public programs, community initiatives, or volunteer recognition activities. Experience communicating with diverse audiences through presentations, media, public engagement activities, or community outreach. Experience developing or managing social media content for an organization.
