Job Title: Registered Nurse - Post Anesthesia Care Department: Post Anesthesia Care Location: Rochester General Hospital Hours Per Week: Full-Time (40 hours per week) Schedule: Day/Evening/Night, On-Call Requirements SUMMARY As a Registered Nurse (RN), you’re the engine and the heart of patient care at Rochester Regional Health. The Post Anesthesia Care Unit (PACU) at Rochester General Hospital is a Critical Care Unit providing care for patients who are recovering from surgery. In this role, you will monitor and assess patients’ vital signs recovering from anesthesia, identify and address any complications or changes in patient conditions, educate patients and families on post-operative care and recovery expectations, and collaborate with anesthesiologists, surgeons, and other healthcare professionals to ensure optimal patient care. RESPONSIBILITIES Patient Care & Service. Promote and restore patients' health by completing the nursing process; collaborating with physicians and multidisciplinary team members; performing various treatment procedures; providing physical, educational and emotional support to patients, friends and families; supervising assigned team members Planning & Communication. Develop and document individualized care plans customized for each patient’s unique needs, with support from the interdisciplinary health team as needed; maintain effective communication to convey patient health status, treatment plans and progress Electronic Health Record (EHR) Management. Demonstrate proficient use of an EHR – including accurate patient and provider documentation and communication Compliance. Adhere to required department and system protocols, regulations (local, state, federal) and education requirements REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS Diploma or Associates Degree in Nursing required RN License in New York State Basic Life Support Certification (BLS) PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS Bachelor's Degree in Nursing preferred. 1-2 years inpatient hospital experience strongly preferred. At least 6 months RN experience preferred. EDUCATION AS: Nursing (Required) LICENSES / CERTIFICATIONS BLS - Basic Life Support - American Heart Association (AHA) RN - Registered Nurse - NYS Office of Professions PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS Moderate - Clinical - Moderate clinical roles are patient facing roles that require continual movement, including standing, walking, and lifting 20-50 lbs., along with pushing and pulling medical equipment and assisting with patient positioning. Employees perform frequent bending, twisting, and reaching while completing fine motor tasks in busy or confined clinical environments. High sensory acuity is essential for monitoring patient status and responding to alarms or safety concerns. Emotional and cognitive demands are substantial, involving decision-making under pressure, responding to emergencies, and maintaining sustained focus. Environmental exposures include infectious agents, bodily fluids, chemicals, and radiation. TB testing, mask-fit testing, and physical exams are common requirements. For disease specific care programs refer to the program specific requirements of the department for further specifications on experience and educational expectations, including continuing education requirements. PAY RANGE $38.67 - $51.92 The listed base pay range is a good faith representation of current potential base pay for a successful full time applicant. It may be modified in the future and eligible for additional pay components. Pay is determined by factors including experience, relevant qualifications, specialty, internal equity, location, and contracts.
