Certified Medication Technician

As a Certified Medication Technician, you will be responsible for safely and accurately assisting residents with their medication management, ensuring their safety and well-being while providing exceptional care and support. This position blends clinical responsibility with personal connection. You will work closely with nursing and wellness team members to ensure that each resident receives the right medication, at the right time, with the respect and dignity they deserve.

Key responsibilities include accurately preparing, administering, and documenting medications according to physician orders and community protocols. You will monitor residents for any side effects or adverse reactions to medications and perform vital signs checks. You will maintain accurate records in the EHR system, assist with medication inventory, ordering, and ensure compliance with storage, counts, and handling regulations. You will communicate clearly and professionally with residents, families, and staff while maintaining confidentiality. You will collaborate with the Wellness Director, care team, and healthcare providers to support individualized resident care plans. You will maintain a clean, organized, and safe medication area and promote a supportive wellness environment. You will provide attentive, compassionate service that respects residents' mobility, cognitive, and sensory needs. You will build meaningful relationships with residents and team members while upholding ethics and integrity.

Education and experience required include a high school diploma or GED, completion of a medication administration training program, and one year experience providing direct care to seniors in a long term care setting, with medication assistant experience in a health care setting preferred.

Skills and qualifications include basic knowledge of medications and their effects, a compassionate, patient-centered approach with a commitment to high-quality patient care, strong attention to detail, organization, and accurate documentation, excellent communication and interpersonal skills, technological proficiency with EHR systems, ability to work independently and as part of a collaborative team, sound judgment and ability to make confident ethical decisions, and flexibility to work various shifts, including weekends and holidays.

Physical requirements include the ability to sit, stand, or walk for long periods, ability to move comfortably and safely, which can include lifting, bending, stretching, squatting, etc., ability to safely support resident mobility and perform physical duties associated with caregiving, and reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform essential job functions.
