Job Summary Specific positions would require applicants to: setup and operate a variety of machines to cut various materials to specified shapes and sizes, fabricate/form a variety of aircraft components into aircraft parts. Job Responsibilities Sets up and operates a computer numerical control (CNC) machines router to cut a variety of materials (router) or fabricate parts from extrusions (extrusion). Works from oral and written instructions, sets-up sheets and N/C disk readouts. Reviews set-up sheet, secures material stock to machine bed, and mounts specified router and drill bits. Installs machine control disk in reader of control console. Observes machine operations for proper functioning. May override disk control feed and speed using manual data input to prevent broken tools and damaged material. May require editing of CNC programs as necessary. Requires contact with Manufacturing Engineering or Experimental to coordinate machine operations. Utilizes a variety of hand tools to complete the work including wrenches, hammers, and precision measuring instruments such as scale, protractors, calipers, and micrometers. May also require finishing parts by sanding, hand routing or burring. May require the use of moving equipment to stage work and to perform other functions of this job. Moving equipment is defined as, but not limited to, forklift, crane or tug, etc. Responsible only for own work and performs other related duties as required. Education Must have a high school diploma, an equivalent certificate, or a bronze level WorkKeys certification. Experience Requires a minimum of 18 months routing or directly related fabrication experience, including one year on CNC machine operations. (Router) Requires 1-3 years combined experience operating relevant equipment. (Extrusion) Working Conditions Somewhat disagreeable working conditions due to exposure to noise.
