Attendant - Mental Health Specialist Sitter, Per Diem Nights

Summary The Mental Health Specialist Sitter (MHS Sitter) plays a vital role in patient safety by providing one-on-one observation and support to assigned patients during night shifts. Working closely with nursing staff, the sitter helps ensure a secure environment while offering appropriate stimuli to patients. Effective communication with all members involved in the patient's care is essential. Responsibilities Deliver compassionate customer service to patients, staff, and visitors. Utilize crisis intervention and de-escalation techniques when necessary. Conduct safe individual activities with patients, demonstrating strong observation and intervention skills. Maintain calm and clear verbal communication with patients and their families. Physical duties include walking, standing, sitting, turning, and assisting with patient movement as needed. Education & Certifications Must obtain CPR and Non-Violent Crisis Intervention certification within 30 days of employment. Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification from the American Heart Association is required. Experience & Skills Proficiency in interpersonal communication and the ability to remain calm in challenging situations are critical. Prior experience in a mental health or patient care setting is beneficial.
