Billing Manager

Job Description

Day-to-Day Responsibilities

• Manage the daily billing operations for a high-volume invoicing function

• Process and review customer invoices while ensuring accuracy and timeliness

• Lead and mentor three offshore billing team members based in India

• Act as a functional manager and subject matter expert for billing-related questions and escalations

• Partner closely with accounting, project/account managers, and operational stakeholders to ensure billing accuracy

• Support multiple contract billing methodologies, including Fixed Fee, T&M, and Cost Plus agreements

• Monitor workload distribution and implement process improvements to increase efficiency and reduce billing delays

• Develop scalable billing processes to support future organizational growth and team expansion

• Collaborate with billing leaders across affiliate companies to share best practices and solve operational challenges

Serve as a hands-on contributor, assisting with billing activities whenever necessary to support team success

Skills and Requirements

• 3-5 years of experience in billing, invoicing, or revenue operations within a professional services or service-based organization

• Previous experience managing or leading billing team members, including offshore resources

• Experience processing and overseeing high-volume invoicing environments (1,000+ invoices/month)

• Strong understanding of contract billing structures, including:

○ Fixed Fee

○ Time & Materials (T&M)

○ Cost Plus

• Experience identifying process improvements and managing billing workflows in a largely manual environment

• Strong communication skills with the ability to collaborate across accounting, finance, and operational teams

• Proven ability to balance leadership responsibilities with hands-on billing execution

Proficiency with ERP or financial systems and advanced Excel skills • Experience with Agresso (Unit4 ERP)

• Experience building or scaling billing functions and teams

• Exposure to global organizations with offshore accounting or billing support teams

• Professional services, agency, engineering, staffing, technology, or other project-based services industry experience

Prior experience working in a contract-to-hire environment or rapidly growing organizations
