Overview Job Title: Bartender Location: Williamsburg, VA 23185 Department: Food and Beverage Reports To: Bar Manager Essential Job Functions Sets up a bar with supplies (fruit, garnishes, cocktail napkins, glassware, etc.) and product prior to opening to ensure a smooth flow of service. Ensures the correct display of products to enhance sales and showcase selection. Receives and prepares drink orders from guests and servers using standard pours and recipes; ensures accuracy of order. Rings drink orders into register, collects money and makes correct change. Provide immediate attention to all guests upon seating, listens well and aims to enhance guest relations. Closes down bar, ensuring inventory is secured, bar is cleaned and sanitized, and supplies put away. Assists servers with serving food and beverages when necessary. Informs guests of daily specials and chef's specialties. Takes guests orders accurately and timely; places orders with kitchen and informs cooks about special instructions. Serves beverages and meals according to standard operating procedures; performs quality checks to ensure guest satisfaction. Removes soiled dishes and glassware according to standard operating procedures. Suggests and serves dessert, coffee and after-dinner drinks. Verifies accuracy for prices, tips and other charges on all checks; handles cash and credit card charges according to standard procedures. Clears and resets tables; maintains cleanliness of tables, dining room and assigned areas. Advises supervisor of any complaints as soon as they occur. Performs clean-up and closing duties as assigned by manager; attends pre-shift line-up as requested. Reviews and turns in Z report with correct cash drop and credit card slips. Performs any task asked by supervisor which is job- or guest-related. Report to work in a neat and clean uniform; maintain well-groomed hair and personal hygiene. All guests must be treated to ensure their complete satisfaction and to strive to exceed guests’ expectations. Legislation & Company Policy Gain TIP certification within 3 months of acquiring the job. Check identification of guests to ensure they are of legal drinking age; refuse service politely to minors. Use judgment to cope with difficult situations; observe guest behavior and count drinks served; offer assistance if a guest should not drive. Understand and actively support all company policies relevant to your role. Qualifications High school diploma, GED certification or equivalent experience preferred. Must have basic reading, writing, and math skills. Must have reliable transportation to and from work. Customer service skills required; prioritization and time management skills required; strong attention to detail.
