Podiatrist - Rearfoot/Ankle Surgery

Location: Shreveport, LA

Our organization is currently seeking a full-time Podiatrist specializing in rearfoot and ankle surgery. Shreveport, located along the Red River in northwest Louisiana, is part of the 'Ark-La-Tex' region, where Arkansas, Louisiana, and Texas converge. This area offers a delightful blend of cultural influences, including Cajun traditions and a touch of Texan flair, as we are just a short drive from the Texas border. We are looking for candidates who are enthusiastic, collaborative, and dedicated to the health and well-being of our Veterans. Our facility is committed to delivering exceptional medical care to honor those who have served our country.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Attractive starting salary ranging from $230,000 to $250,000 annually .

  • Work hours: Monday to Friday, from 8:00 AM to 4:30 PM.

  • Conduct physical examinations, assess, and diagnose foot and ankle conditions in both diabetic and non-diabetic patients.

  • Provide both outpatient and inpatient podiatric consultations and surgical interventions, including osseous digital procedures, management of digital fractures, partial ostectomy/exostectomy, hallux valgus and limitus surgeries, as well as a variety of soft tissue surgeries such as tumor excision, tendon repair, and deep foreign body removal.

  • Perform selected reconstructive surgeries on the midfoot, hindfoot, and ankle.

  • Conduct biomechanical assessments and procedures related to castings, prosthetics, and orthotics, including the prescription of medications and therapeutic devices (orthotics, prosthetics, plaster casts, immobilization devices, etc.).

  • Administer wound care services, including ulcer debridement, nail avulsion, and hardware removal.

  • Manage local care for calluses and pedal ulcers, addressing issues such as deformed, painful, or infected nails that could lead to severe complications, particularly in patients with systemic diseases like diabetes.

  • Facilitate appropriate consultations, referrals, and co-management for patients with complex systemic conditions.

  • Engage in clinical teaching and coordinate educational activities for podiatric students, residents, and staff.

  • Completion of residency training or its equivalent is required.

  • Must possess, or be in the process of obtaining, a full and unrestricted license to practice Podiatry in any U.S. state, territory, or the District of Columbia.

  • A degree in podiatric medicine or its equivalent from an accredited podiatric medical school recognized by the Secretary of Veterans Affairs is necessary.
