Assistant Director of Member Engagement and Staff Operations, Campus Recreation – Georgetown University.

The Assistant Director of Member Engagement and Staff Operations is responsible for leading strategies that strengthen member relationships, enhance the member experience, and ensure efficient internal staff operations. This role bridges member-facing programs with internal organizational processes to ensure the organization delivers high-quality services, maintains strong member retention and growth, and operates effectively across teams.

The Director will oversee member engagement initiatives, manage operational systems that support membership programs, and coordinate staff workflows to support organizational priorities. This position plays a key role in aligning member needs with internal capacity while ensuring inclusive engagement practices that expand access and participation among underrepresented students and campus partners. The Director will serve as the senior hiring manager for all student staff positions. This position will be responsible for onboarding, training, supervising, and evaluating customer service staff. The Director will oversee the operations and personnel of both the Membership Office and the Front Desk and will provide operational coverage during hours when student staff are not scheduled.

Additional duties include, but are not limited to:

• Oversee day-to-day staff operations related to member services
• Lead, mentor, and develop staff responsible for member services
• Develop and implement strategies to increase member engagement, retention, and satisfaction
• Maintain management systems and provide training to staff
• Collaborate with program managers to ensure offerings meet member needs
• Contribute to cultivating a welcoming, supportive environment where individuals from all backgrounds, identities, and abilities feel valued, empowered, and able to fully participate in the University’s mission and community.

Work Interactions

The Assistant Director of Member Engagement and Staff Operations will report to the Senior Associate Director of Campus Recreation. This position will work with other Campus Recreation professional staff members to maintain a high level of customer service for Campus Recreation members and patrons. This position is responsible for recruiting, interviewing, hiring, training, supervising, and evaluating Customer Service Representatives and Facility Operations Staff who support various areas of the Field House. The Assistant Director of Member Engagement and Staff Operations will collaborate with the Assistant Director, Marketing & Strategic Engagement, to promote Campus Recreation to the campus community and to areas neighboring Georgetown, and to ensure the timely dissemination

of information to members regarding closures, policy changes, and special programs. The position works collaboratively with campus partners, vendors, student employees, and university leadership to support the mission of Campus Recreation and Georgetown. This position will represent Campus Recreation on institutional committees as assigned.

Requirements and Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Recreation Management, or a related field
• Five years of professional experience in membership organizations, operations management, or related fields
• Demonstrated experience leading teams and managing operational processes
• Experience with membership engagement strategies
• First Aid, CPR, AED, and Bloodborne Pathogen Certifications
• Certified Pool Operations Certificate
• Trainings must be completed within 60 days of hire
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
• Strong leadership and staff management skills
• Strategic thinking and problem-solving ability
• Ability to manage multiple priorities in a dynamic environment
• Proficiency with membership databases
• Knowledgeable of Microsoft 365 and Google Workspace
