Green Fleet Advisor & Team Supervisor Join Seattle Public Utilities as the Green Fleet Advisor & Team Supervisor, where you will play a pivotal role in advancing the utility’s sustainability and climate action goals. In this leadership position, you will guide the strategic direction of SPU’s fleet operations by developing and managing the team’s work plans, driving fleet electrification initiatives, and ensuring progress toward key milestones established through executive directives, including the Mayor's New Green Deal Executive Order, as well as SPU’s broader climate commitments. As a trusted advisor and team supervisor, you will champion innovation and operational excellence by leading fleet and logistics continuous improvement efforts, optimizing processes, and fostering a culture of sustainability, efficiency, and accountability. SPU is a community-centered utility that delivers vital services to Seattle residents and businesses, including drinking water, drainage and wastewater, and garbage/recycling/compost. Family-friendly and multicultural work environment Generous benefits package Free Orca Pass City pension plan with employer/employee contributions Growth potential and advancement opportunities Responsibilities Lead SPU’s fleet greenhouse gas reduction and electrification strategies, policies, and short & long-term planning Develop and implement pilot programs that evaluate emerging technologies and innovative sustainability solutions to reduce greenhouse gas emissions from SPU fleets Manage the expansion of electric vehicle charging infrastructure across SPU facilities, including project scope, budget, schedule, and contractor oversight Lead the Fleet Management team, including supervision of four (4) staff, fleet replacement programs, policy & procedure development, and performance reporting Establish and monitor KPIs to drive operational excellence and continuous improvement Analyze operations and implement process improvements that enhance efficiency and service delivery for the Fleet Management section Manage vendor and contractor relationships to ensure quality, compliance, and service-level performance Prepare executive briefings, presentations, and reports, including updates on mayoral directives and climate-related initiatives Represent SPU on interdepartmental teams and citywide working groups Ensure compliance with safety standards, regulations, and industry best practices Serve as a member of the Logistics Division’s core emergency response team Qualifications Five (5) years of relevant experience in policy, organizational planning, project or program management, or advising senior management or executives on policy or program direction, or related field, including one (1) year of supervisory experience Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Public Administration, Project Management, Environmental Studies, or related field Seven (7) years of relevant experience may be substituted if applicant does not have a degree Experience analyzing operational and performance data to support green fleet initiatives Strong public speaking & presentation skills, with the ability to communicate effectively to diverse audiences Proactive & persistent, with the ability to navigate challenges to achieve results Curious mindset with a passion for learning & exploring new ideas Naturally curious with a desire to learn, ask questions, and continuously improve processes and outcomes Workplace Schedule & Environment This position will be required to work in the office five (5) days per week, with individual schedules to be agreed upon by the employee and their supervisor Work is performed both in an office environment and in a public setting Collaborative, inclusive team environment Please note this job advertisement is not designed to cover or contain a comprehensive listing of activities, duties or responsibilities that are required of the employee for this job.
