HAAS Alert is a fast-growing startup building breakthrough technologies in Proactive Safety, Networked V2X and vehicle intelligence , and we’re looking for a AAOS Developer who thrives at the intersection of customer-facing engagement and deep technical problem solving . In this hybrid role, As an Android Automotive Developer, you will lead the design and implementation of applications and system-level services on the Android Automotive platform. You’ll work closely with cross-functional teams—including firmware, UX, product, and cloud services—to deliver high-performance, safety-critical, and delightful in-vehicle experiences. Primary Responsibilities: Design, develop, test, and maintain Android Automotive apps and services tailored to different OEM’s (Java/Kotlin). Work on system-level components (e.g., HMI, car service APIs, AOSP customizations). Collaborate with ADAS, hardware, and vehicle interface teams (CAN, VHAL, etc.) to integrate vehicle data into Android environments. Customize AOSP and manage builds for specific vehicle hardware targets. Optimize performance, memory usage, and startup time across the AAOS stack. Contribute to UI/UX discussions with a focus on driver usability and safety. Implement OTA update mechanisms, diagnostics, and telemetry as needed. Stay current with AAOS roadmap, OEM requirements, and Google CTS/GMS compliance. Experience : 7–10+ years of Android development experience, with at least 2+ years on Android Automotive OS or AOSP. Strong proficiency in Java and Kotlin. Experience working with Android system services, HALs, or custom AOSP builds. Familiarity with CAN, VHAL, or other vehicle interface protocols is a strong plus. Comfortable working in a fast-paced startup environment with shifting priorities. Experience with Google Automotive Services (GAS), Android Auto, or CarPlay. Must live in the city of Detroit! Hybrid, Full-Time Position Although only 2 days are required to be in-office (Tuesday/Wednesday) you are welcome to use our space to work whenever you'd like.
