Ideal Candidate Must possess a Bachelor's Degree in Construction Management, Civil Engineering, Engineering, or a related field. Equivalent experience will also be considered. Must have 15+ years of commercial construction management experience with a proven record of delivering large, complex projects. Must have 5+ years of leadership experience managing project teams, project managers, and construction professionals. Must have direct experience leading $75M+ Aviation construction projects from preconstruction through project completion. Must possess extensive experience in client relationship management, financial management, risk management, subcontractor strategy, preconstruction, scheduling, budgeting, and operational leadership. Must have demonstrated success leading multiple large or complex construction projects simultaneously while developing long-term client relationships and driving profitable project delivery. Strong knowledge of Lean Construction, project controls, construction technology, contract management, and corporate risk management is highly preferred.

The Traveling Project Director – Aviation provides executive leadership for large aviation construction programs across the United States. This role is responsible for overall project execution, strategic planning, operational excellence, financial performance, client satisfaction, risk management, contract administration, team leadership, and business development throughout the project lifecycle. The Project Director serves as the executive client representative while leading multiple project teams and ensuring successful delivery of complex aviation construction programs.

Key Responsibilities

Lead aviation construction programs from preconstruction through project completion. Develop and execute project business plans and strategic initiatives. Provide executive leadership for project teams and field operations. Manage project financial performance, profitability, and budgets. Build and maintain executive-level client relationships. Lead contract negotiations, change orders, and risk management. Oversee project scheduling, staffing, and resource planning. Lead subcontractor selection and strategic partnerships. Support preconstruction planning, estimating, constructability reviews, and staffing plans. Drive Lean Construction and Operational Excellence initiatives. Oversee project performance reviews and schedule compliance. Lead safety, quality, and continuous improvement initiatives. Mentor Project Managers, Superintendents, and leadership teams. Represent the company within industry organizations and community partnerships. Support business development and repeat client growth.

Required Qualifications

Bachelor's Degree in Construction Management, Engineering, or related discipline (or equivalent experience). 15+ years of Construction Management experience (preferred). Minimum 5 years of People Management experience. Experience leading $75M+ Aviation construction projects. Demonstrated success managing multiple large or complex projects simultaneously.

Preferred Qualifications

Aviation Terminal, Airfield, Airport Infrastructure, or Aviation Facility experience. Experience with Lean Construction implementation. CMiC or similar construction management software. Large Design-Build project experience. Public sector aviation construction experience. Experience with MBE/WBE/SBA compliance. Strong knowledge of construction contracts and corporate risk management. Business development and executive client management experience.
