Senior Accountant

Busch Vacuum Solutions is a leading manufacturer of vacuum pumps, compressors, and blowers for use in industries such as semiconductor manufacturing, food processing, metallurgy, biomedical, and material handling.

Busch Vacuum Solutions has an immediate direct-hire opportunity for a Senior Accountant at our United States headquarters in Virginia Beach, Virginia!

The Senior Accountant plays a key role in the day-to-day general ledger accounting functions and monthly and annual closing processes. This position is responsible for preparing and reviewing journal entries, account reconciliations, financial reporting, and consolidation activities across multiple legal entities. The Senior Accountant will also support internal and external audits, strengthen accounting controls and processes, and partner closely with Finance and other business functions.

This is a full-time, fully onsite position. Typical working hours are Monday through Friday, 8:00 AM–4:30 PM, with flexibility to support business needs as required.

Targeted Compensation: The targeted base salary for this position is $86,464 –$95,790 annually, depending on the selected candidate's qualifications, skills, and relevant experience.

Job Responsibilities

• Prepare and review complex journal entries, ensuring accuracy, completeness, and compliance with accounting standards.
• Develop, maintain, and continuously improve account reconciliations for balance sheet and income statement accounts.
• Analyze general ledger activity, investigate variances, and resolve discrepancies in a timely manner.
• Maintain supporting schedules, workpapers, and close documentation to support financial reporting and audit requirements.
• Coordinate period-end cutoff activities, including logistics and operational transaction reviews, to ensure accurate financial reporting.
• Design, implement, document, and improve accounting controls and standardized procedures to strengthen financial reporting and compliance.
• Identify control gaps, process inefficiencies, and financial risks and develop appropriate corrective actions.
• Support continuous improvement initiatives, including automation and standardization of accounting processes and reporting.
• Support the consolidation of financial statements across multiple legal entities, including intercompany eliminations and reconciliations.
• Ensure consistent application of accounting policies and chart of accounts mapping across entities.
• Assist with currency translation, intercompany balancing, and resolution of consolidation-related issues.
• Partner with subsidiary and satellite office personnel to resolve accounting and financial reporting matters.
• Prepare audit schedules, reconciliations, and supporting documentation for internal and external audits.
• Serve as a primary contact for auditor requests and coordinate information gathering during audit fieldwork.
• Assist with remediation of audit findings and implementation of sustainable corrective controls.
• Support compliance with sales tax, payroll, and other regulatory reporting requirements as needed.
• Provide technical guidance and review work performed by Staff Accountants and other accounting team members.
• Mentor junior accounting personnel and promote best practices in reconciliation, documentation, and financial controls.
• Collaborate with operations, logistics, payroll, tax, and other business functions to resolve financial issues and improve processes.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

Required Experience

• Certified Public Accountant (CPA): Required
• Minimum of eight (8) years of progressive accounting experience, preferably within a multi-entity manufacturing or industrial environment: Required
• Strong experience with general ledger accounting, account reconciliations, consolidations, internal controls, and financial reporting: Required
• Advanced Microsoft Excel skills: Required
• Experience with SAP or an equivalent ERP system: Required
• IFRS experience: Preferred
• Experience supporting internal and external audits: Required
• Experience identifying accounting control gaps and implementing or improving accounting processes and procedures: Required

Job Requirements

• Ability and willingness to pass a 10-panel drug screen, 7-year criminal history check
  • Most felonies are a disqualifier, misdemeanors are considered on a case-by-case basis
• Ability and willingness to travel locally approximately 5% as business needs require
• Valid Driver’s License must be maintained throughout employment that meets Busch insurance standards
• Employment with Busch Vacuum Solutions requires current work authorization in the United States. Visa sponsorship is not available for this position.
