Practice Responsibilities Conduct thorough psychiatric assessments to diagnose mental health conditions. Formulate personalized treatment plans based on assessment findings and clinical judgment, with ongoing modifications as needed. Conduct evidence-based therapeutic interventions and regular follow‑up appointments to assess patient progress. Prescribe and manage psychotropic medications as appropriate. Monitor medication efficacy and side effects, making adjustments as needed. Educate patients and caregivers about medications, potential side effects, risks and benefits. Collaborate with therapists and psychologists to offer comprehensive care. Provide crisis intervention and emergency consultations as needed. Coordinate higher levels of care when necessary. Maintain accurate and up‑to‑date patient records in compliance with healthcare and MMI regulations. Collaborate with a multidisciplinary team to ensure holistic patient care. Consult with other healthcare providers and specialists for co‑occurring medical conditions. Stay current with developments in psychiatry by participating in continuing education, attending conferences, and reading research literature. Engage in education, research, or other scholarly activity as a member of an academic medical center. Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Strong diagnostic and clinical skills. Knowledge of psychiatric principles, child and adolescent development, individual and group therapy, and behavior modification techniques. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills. Empathy and a family‑centered approach to care. Willingness to work collaboratively in a team‑based environment. Qualifications Medical degree (MD or DO) from an accredited medical school. Board certification or board‑eligible in child and adolescent psychiatry. Eligible for state medical license to practice psychiatry in Nebraska. Current DEA certificate. Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification through the American Heart Association. Supplemental Qualifications Experience in outpatient academic psychiatry. Knowledge of EPIC electronic health record systems. Physical Requirements Physical tasks may include occasional bending, stooping, twisting, crawling, kneeling, reaching, sitting for 2–5 hours, standing up to 2 hours, walking up to 2 hours, and occasional use of hand or power tools. Exposure to blood, bodily fluids, and other workplace hazards is possible and PPE requirements may apply.
