RN Surgical Circulator/Scrub

Job Summary:

The Registered Nurse (RN) in the Operating Room (OR) provides skilled nursing care during the intraoperative phase of the perioperative process. This role involves circulating and scrubbing duties in a Level III trauma center with multiple specialized surgical suites. The RN collaborates with the surgical team to ensure patient safety and optimal outcomes throughout various surgical procedures. Responsibilities:

  • Provide nursing care during the intraoperative phase for patients undergoing surgery.
  • Perform circulating and scrubbing duties in the operating room.
  • Collaborate with surgeons, anesthesiologists, and other team members to maintain a sterile and safe environment.
  • Prepare and manage surgical instruments and equipment, including advanced robotics systems.
  • Monitor patient status and respond to intraoperative changes promptly.
  • Document nursing care and surgical procedures accurately.
  • Participate in preoperative and postoperative patient care as needed.
  • Adhere to hospital policies, procedures, and safety standards.
Required Skills & Certifications:
  • Active CO Registered Nurse License or Compact RN License in good standing.
  • Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification from the American Heart Association.
  • Current Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) certification from the American Heart Association.
  • Minimum of 3 years of experience in a related surgical nursing field.
  • Strong knowledge of perioperative nursing standards and sterile technique.
  • Excellent communication and teamwork skills.
Preferred Skills & Certifications:
  • Experience with robotic surgical systems such as Exactech, Mako, Stealth, or DaVinci.
  • Familiarity with a variety of surgical specialties including General, Orthopedics, Neurosurgery, OB-GYN, ENT, Plastics, Urology, Pediatrics, and Trauma.
Special Considerations:
  • Must be able to work in a fast-paced, high-acuity trauma center environment.
  • Rotating call schedule including evenings, nights, and weekends.
  • Compliance with hospital policies for operating room safety and sterile technique.
Scheduling:
  • Four 10-hour day shifts per week.
  • Rotating evening, night, and weekend call shifts.
  • Typically assigned one call weekend (Friday 7:00 PM to Monday 7:00 AM) and 4-5 weeknight call shifts (7:00 PM to 7:00 AM) per 8-week scheduling period.
