Mechanical Assembly Technician
The Mechanical Assembly Technician works in a manufacturing environment assembling machine components from detailed prints and instructions. This role focuses on precise mechanical assembly, frequent use of hand and power tools, and close collaboration with team members and material handlers to ensure components are built accurately and efficiently.
Responsibilities
- Build machine components by accurately following mechanical prints and standard operating procedures.
- Use a variety of hand and power tools to assemble mechanical components in a safe and efficient manner.
- Work collaboratively within a team to assemble different subcomponents that form complete machines.
- Coordinate with material handlers to identify, pick, and stage all parts needed for each assembly task.
- Lift and move components and materials weighing up to 50 pounds as part of the assembly process.
- Complete individual component builds typically within 45 minutes to 1 hour while maintaining quality standards.
- Follow written and verbal directions to ensure assemblies meet specifications and performance requirements.
- Maintain a clean and organized work area and follow all safety guidelines in the manufacturing environment.
Essential Skills
- Minimum 2 years of assembly experience or demonstrated mechanical aptitude (such as building cars or working in a mechanical trade).
- Ability to read and interpret mechanical prints and follow detailed directions or standard operating procedures.
- Strong mechanical aptitude with an understanding of basic mechanical principles.
- Proficiency in using hand tools for mechanical assembly tasks.
- Experience using power tools safely and effectively in an assembly or mechanical environment.
- Ability to lift and carry up to 50 pounds on a regular basis.
- Ability to work effectively as part of a team in a manufacturing setting.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
- Experience working with mechanical assemblies or components in a production or manufacturing environment.
- Familiarity with following standard operating procedures (SOPs) for consistent and repeatable assembly.
- Comfort working with material handlers and inventory to ensure correct parts are used for each build.
- Attention to detail and commitment to producing high-quality, reliable assemblies.
- Strong communication skills to understand and follow verbal and written instructions.

Work Environment
This role is based in a clean manufacturing facility on a first shift schedule, typically working 6:00 a.m. to 2:30 p.m., Monday through Friday. You may stay late during the week and occasionally work up to 4 hours on a Saturday, with no work on Sundays, and can generally expect 5 to 10 hours of overtime per week. The environment is clean with fans to improve air circulation, though it is not fully climate controlled. Work is performed on the production floor using hand and power tools around mechanical equipment, with a focus on safety, organization, and efficient workflow.

Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $20.00/hr. Eligibility requirements apply to some benefits and may depend on your job classification and length of employment.
