Position Vacancy: Speech Language Pathologist

Qualifications:

  • Completion of a graduate program in an accredited institution which granted a minimum of a master's degree
  • Valid Alabama Teacher's Certificate in Speech Therapy
  • Valid Alabama Driver's License
  • Demonstration and record of sound moral character
  • Strong organization, communication, and leadership skills

Duties/Responsibilities:

  • Assist, coordinate, and provide instruction for students qualifying under IDEA
  • Develop, revise as needed, and implement IEPs according to mandates of IDEA
  • Facilitate strong communication between other faculty members and parents
  • Maintains professional competence and continuous improvement through in-service education and other professional growth activities as required or assigned.
  • Ensures confidentiality of all students' records, grades, performance and all other related matters.
  • Establishes and maintains a professional level of rapport with other teachers, team leaders, department heads, district-level coordinators and/or program directors, and instructional support and service employees of the school district.
  • Demonstrates a positive and technically competent set of parent/community relations' skills including oral communication, written communications, and listening skills in group and one-on-one situations as necessary.
  • Models appropriate personal characteristics and work habits that are consistent with personal development goals.
  • Establishes and maintains proper and professional relationships with students, parents, colleagues, and community members.
  • Abides by the Alabama Educator Code of Ethics.
  • Be familiar with and follow Calhoun County Board of Education Policies.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

Length of Contract/Terms: 187 days

Compensation: As per Board salary schedule for this position

This position will be subject to the Students First Act of 2011. Calhoun County Schools reserves the right to fill this position by transfer of a qualified applicant who is already employed by the Calhoun County School System.

Under the Students First Act of 2011, no credit toward tenure or non-probationary status is earned in the initial school year of employment if the date of hire occurs after September 30.
