Overview

The Full-time Faculty member in Literacy Education will contribute to the development of future educators through high-quality online teaching, research, and academic leadership. This role focuses on teacher education and evidence-based literacy instruction, preparing teacher candidates to meet the diverse needs of learners in K–12 educational settings. You will design and deliver engaging online courses while fostering an inclusive and supportive learning environment for adult students. Working collaboratively with faculty, academic leaders, and community partners, you will contribute to curriculum development, program improvement, and student success initiatives. • Online teaching and course development: Design, develop, and teach online courses in teacher education and literacy education, ensuring that course content reflects current research, effective pedagogical practices, and professional standards.

Requirements

• Education: A terminal degree in education or a related discipline is required.
• California residency: Must currently reside in California for purposes related to the California Commission on Teacher Credentialing (CCTC).
• Teaching credentials: Must hold an active and valid California teaching credential.
• Literacy education expertise: Demonstrated teaching and scholarly experience in literacy education, including familiarity with evidence-based literacy instruction and teacher preparation.
• Teaching experience: Professional experience in K–12 education, particularly within California classrooms, with the ability to translate practical classroom knowledge into effective teacher education instruction.
• Online higher education experience: Previous experience teaching online in higher education is preferred, particularly with a diverse adult student population.
• Instructional and research capabilities: Ability to develop effective online learning experiences, maintain subject matter expertise, engage in scholarly activities, and contribute to curriculum and program development.
• Communication and collaboration: Strong written and verbal communication skills, interpersonal effectiveness, and the ability to work collaboratively with faculty, administrators, students, and community stakeholders.
• Inclusive teaching approach: Commitment to supporting diverse learners, promoting equitable educational opportunities, and preparing teacher candidates for a range of learning environments.
