Automation Technician
The Automation Technician is responsible for installing, maintaining, troubleshooting, and repairing automation equipment used in oil and gas production facilities.
Responsibilities
- Install, troubleshoot, repair, and maintain automation and control systems.
- Perform preventive and corrective maintenance on PLCs, RTUs, HMIs, SCADA systems, and field instrumentation.
- Calibrate and maintain pressure, temperature, flow, and level transmitters.
- Diagnose electrical and instrumentation issues using testing equipment.
- Support startup and commissioning of new wells, facilities, and automation equipment.
- Maintain communication systems including radios, cellular modems, and network devices.
- Read and interpret electrical schematics, loop drawings, P&IDs, and wiring diagrams.
- Coordinate with Operations, I&E Technicians, and Engineering to resolve equipment issues.
- Document maintenance activities, repairs, and equipment changes.
- Ensure all work complies with company safety policies and industry regulations.
- Participate in emergency call-outs and after-hours support as required.
Qualifications
- 2+ years of Oil and Gas automation, instrumentation, or electrical maintenance experience required.
- High school diploma or GED equivalent required. Technical degree or vocational training in Instrumentation, Electrical Technology, Automation, or a related field preferred.
- Experience with PLCs (Allen-Bradley, Siemens, Schneider, etc.) is preferred.
- Familiarity with SCADA systems and RTUs.
- Understanding of instrumentation, process controls, and electrical troubleshooting.
- Ability to read electrical schematics and P&IDs.
- Valid driver's license with a clean driving record.
- Physical Requirements: Work outdoors in varying weather conditions, lift to 50 pounds, climb ladders, work at heights, and enter confined spaces when required, walk, bend, kneel, and stand for extended periods.
- Must meet conditional job offer requirements including background, drug test, MVR check, fit for duty and agility.
