Job Description

Requirements:

Active RN license in state of practice (or compact license as applicable)
BSN preferred; ADN accepted per facility policy
BLS and ACLS certification required
CGRN (Certified Gastroenterology Registered Nurse) preferred
1+ years of endoscopy experience required
Experience with conscious sedation/moderate sedation administration and monitoring

Duties:

Provide nursing care for patients undergoing endoscopic procedures (colonoscopy, EGD, ERCP, bronchoscopy, etc.)
Prepare and educate patients pre-procedure, including sedation and consent verification
Administer and monitor moderate/conscious sedation per physician orders and protocol
Assist physicians during procedures, including specimen handling and equipment operation
Monitor patient vital signs and sedation status throughout procedures, alerting the team to changes
Provide post-procedure recovery care and discharge instructions
Clean, disinfect, and maintain endoscopy equipment per infection control standards
Collaborate with gastroenterologists, techs, and interdisciplinary team on plan of care
Accurately document assessments, interventions, medications, and patient response in the EMR
