Crit Care: ICU Neurology About Facility: o Level III Trauma Center o Magnet Designated o Comprehensive Stroke Center o Beds: 933 Unit Information: o Beds: 27 Census: Average patients/day: 25 o Minimum Years of Experience required: 4 years o Will you accept a first-time traveler: Yes Patient Types/Common Diagnoses: o Neurological: Ischemic (post TNK, thrombectomies), hemorrhagic strokes (SAH, IPH, IVH, SDH), seizures, spinal surgeries, brain mass resections/biopsies, etc. Anything that falls under neurocritical can be handled here All significant neuro-intensive care patients assigned to core staff o Non-Neuro ICU: Medical respiratory overflow, general medical ICU overflow Patient Ratios: o 1:1-2, 1:3 for mixed acuity status Required License, National Certification, Certs: o BLS, ACLS, NIHSS Skills required: o Vents, trachs, art lines, vasopressor and sedation management, central line blood draws o EPIC experience required o Preferred: CVVH/CRRT, EVD Support within the Department: o CNA with 1:8-10 o Charge RN – rarely takes a patient assignment o Critical Care NP: 2 on Days o Intensivist 24/7 (2 on Days, 1 on Nights) o Hospitalist 24/7 o RT 24/7 o Phlebotomy to assist with peripheral blood draws o Telemetry at bedside and central monitor at nurse's station Technology/Equipment: o EMR: EPIC -
