About the Position

Job Title: Registered Nurse Profession: Nursing Specialty: Labor and Delivery Duration: 13 weeks Shift: Night Hours per Shift: 12 Experience: Minimum of 2 years preferred License: Valid RN license required Certifications: BLS, FHM, NRP, AWHONN Advanced*, AWHONN Intermediate Must-Have: Previous charge experience preferred Experience with charting systems preferred Description: This position focuses on the care of laboring patients, including those with high-risk conditions such as pre-eclampsia and diabetes. The unit accepts first-time travelers. You will be involved in monitoring and assisting with various labor and delivery procedures, including C-sections and external cephalic versions. Experience in managing high-risk antepartum patients and postpartum care is essential. Additional responsibilities include administration of blood products, breastfeeding support, and discharge teaching to parents. Clinical skills such as assessing fetal heart rates, performing sterile vaginal exams, and providing pain management are key components of this role. You will provide couplet care and be involved in nursing tasks related to newborn assessment and education for parents. Candidates must be prepared to float to similar units as needed. Travelers will receive a brief orientation on the unit and be expected to maintain a high standard of patient care throughout their assignment.
