Telemetry Nurse

Location: North Tower, SMMC, City, State

Number of Beds: 18

Patient Ratios: 1:4 / 1:5

Responsibilities:

• Monitoring and interpreting telemetry data.
• Administering medications and titrating drips per protocols, including comfort care medications and limited drips such as Heparin and Cardizem (up to 10 mg/hr).
• Collaborating with interdisciplinary teams to deliver high-quality care.
• Supporting patients with diagnoses including Congestive Heart Failure (CHF), Diabetes Mellitus (DM), Urinary Tract Infections (UTI), non-critical sepsis, Hypertension (HTN), and Chronic Obstructive Pulmonary Disease (COPD).

Qualifications:

• Experience: Minimum of 1 year of clinical experience is required.
• Certifications: Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification is required. Bio/Chemotherapy certification is preferred but not required.

Work Environment:

• Shift: 12-hour shifts are the standard for this unit.
• Weekend Requirements: Staffing will be based on unit needs and demands.
• Holiday Requirements: To be discussed during the interview process.
• Floating Requirements: Nurses may be required to float to like departments based on staffing needs.

Orientation and Training:

New hires can expect 2-3 shifts of unit-specific orientation to ensure a smooth transition into the department.

Additional Notes:

This is a newly established department, opening on December 10th. The reporting manager will provide support and guidance through the onboarding process.
