As an Electrical Engineer, you will help design and develop the electronics that power our next-generation radar systems. You will contribute to board-level hardware development across mixed-signal, power, timing, and control electronics, supporting designs from initial requirements through prototype bring-up, validation, and production.

This is a hands-on role for an engineer who enjoys solving technical problems, working in the laboratory, and collaborating with experienced engineers to build reliable hardware that moves quickly from development into the field.

This position is based in the San Francisco Bay Area and is full-time onsite at our Menlo Park Facility. You will work closely with LeoLabs' RF, mechanical, embedded software, manufacturing, and systems engineers to develop and integrate advanced radar hardware.

You will be responsible for:

• Design and develop PCBAs and electrical subsystems for next-generation radar hardware
• Translate defined system and subsystem requirements into schematics and board-level designs
• Support PCB layout and perform design checks under the guidance of senior engineers
• Contribute to designs of mixed-signal, power, timing, and control electronics for demanding operating environments
• Perform hardware bring-up, laboratory testing, debugging, and electrical validation
• Analyze test results and assist with identifying and resolving hardware design issues
• Work closely with RF, mechanical, embedded software, manufacturing, and systems engineers to integrate complete hardware systems
• Participate in design reviews and incorporate technical feedback into assigned designs
• Support design reviews, prototype builds, manufacturing transition, and deployment activities
• Develop engineering tools, test software, and laboratory automation using Python where appropriate
• Create and maintain design documentation, test procedures, and test reports
• Contribute to the continuous improvement of electrical design and laboratory practices

Qualifications:

• Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or a related discipline
• 3+ years relevant experience designing or testing board-level electronics
• Experience with schematic capture and PCB design using Altium Designer or equivalent software
• Experience participating in hardware development from design through prototype bring-up and validation
• Working knowledge of mixed-signal design fundamentals, including power integrity, signal integrity, grounding, and EMI/EMC-aware layout
• Hands-on experience with board bring-up, debugging, and electrical validation
• Experience using circuit-simulation tools such as LTspice
• Experience developing engineering tools or test automation using Python
• Strong technical communication and documentation skills
• Ability to work effectively with cross-functional engineering teams

Preferred Qualifications:

• Eligibility to obtain and maintain a U.S. security clearance
• Experience designing electronics for radar, aerospace, defense, communications, or other mission-critical applications
• Familiarity with FPGAs, embedded processors, or high-speed digital hardware
• Familiarity with product lifecycle management systems such as Arena.
• Experience working in a multidisciplinary hardware-development environment
• Familiarity with RF hardware or RF system integration

Within 1 month, you'll:

• Complete onboarding and become familiar with LeoLabs' radar hardware, development process, and active programs
• Build an understanding of current electrical designs, development tools, and laboratory workflows
• Begin supporting ongoing hardware development and integration activities

Within 3 months, you'll:

• Contribute independently to a defined board-level design, test effort, or electrical subsystem
• Support prototype bring-up, validation, debugging, and design iteration
• Establish effective working relationships with cross-functional engineering teams

Within 6 months, you'll:

• Take ownership of defined portions of a board or electrical subsystem with guidance from senior engineers
• Execute assigned design, analysis, and validation activities with increasing independence
• Support hardware integration, manufacturing, and deployment activities
• Become a reliable technical contributor within the Hardware Engineering organization

Within 12 months, you'll:

• Deliver a board-level design or substantial design contribution through prototype validation or production release
• Independently execute well-defined electrical engineering tasks and appropriately escalate complex technical decisions
• Contribute lessons learned, documentation, and technical improvements to future radar hardware development

Compensation

Salary offers are based on a combination of factors, including, but not limited to, experience, skills, and location. The base salary range for this position $120,000-139,000 + bonus + stock options + benefits
