Data Center Controls Engineer, Data Center Capacity Delivery - Controls Job ID: 10459791 | Amazon Data Services, Inc. AWS Infrastructure Services designs, plans, delivers, and operates AWS’s global data center infrastructure. This role focuses on troubleshooting, project management, and maintenance of the Building Management System (BMS) and Electrical Power Monitoring System (EPMS) in AWS data centers. Key Job Responsibilities Perform root cause analysis and corrective action for BMS and EPMS related issues. Train and assist internal customers and stakeholders with the creation, design, configuration, validation, installation, commissioning, and operation of BMS and EPMS systems. Provide technical assistance and support to operations throughout the data center life cycle. Review results and action items from quarterly maintenance for BMS and EPMS and take actions to resolve them. Develop BMS & EPMS project scope of work, schedule, budget, and level of effort (LOE) for customer and stakeholder requests. Manage scope, schedule, finances, and execution of BMS and EPMS improvement projects. Assist in procurement activities, including RFPs, RFIs, vendor proposal reviews, and purchase order issuance. Participate in the AWS global on‑call schedule to provide immediate BMS and EPMS technical support. Attend project meetings, coordinate with project leaders, and regularly report status to controls and stakeholder management. Support controls commissioning activities in data centers. Review, implement, troubleshoot, and iterate controls sequence of operation (SOO) and provide feedback to the design team. Develop and modify controls logic programming and graphical user interfaces. Manage multiple stakeholder deliverables, requirements, and navigate challenging situations. Financially manage BMS and EPMS service contracts. Frequently visit assigned data centers to troubleshoot, meet customers, and supervise vendor work to ensure compliance with scope, design, SOO, and applicable local codes. Basic Qualifications Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or a related field. 5+ years of relevant controls experience, OR 10+ years of relevant controls experience in lieu of a degree. 5+ years of experience with industrial controls in critical environments such as data centers. 4+ years of general project or vendor management experience (RFPs, bidding, change orders, quality control, RFI tracking). Preferred Qualifications Experience designing, configuring, programming, installing, troubleshooting, or servicing HVAC controls or Electrical SCADA systems. Experience with industrial communication protocols such as MQTT, BACnet, and/or MODBUS. Demonstrated understanding of engineering documentation, electrical and mechanical diagrams, and standard operating procedures. Ability to manage multiple stakeholder deliverables, requirements, and navigate difficult situations. Experience designing data centers or critical MEP infrastructure. Registered as a Professional Engineer (PE) or certified Project Management Professional (PMP). Prior AWS/Amazon experience. 4+ years of military service. Location and Compensation New Albany, Ohio – Salary range: $111,300.00 – $186,100.00 USD annually.
