Clinical Care Coordinator

We are seeking a professional, compassionate, and highly organized Clinical Care Coordinator to join our team. The Clinical Care Coordinator plays an important role in guiding patients through their treatment process by coordinating benefits verification, authorizations, treatment planning, procedure scheduling, and follow-up. The ideal candidate is confident communicating with patients by phone, able to explain medical information in a professional and compassionate manner, and skilled at anticipating patient concerns and helping patients feel comfortable throughout their care. The Clinical Care Coordinator plays an important role in guiding patients through their treatment process by coordinating benefits verification, authorizations, treatment planning, procedure scheduling, and follow-up. Essential Responsibilities Verify patient insurance benefits and coverage. Obtain required insurance authorizations for procedures and treatments. Communicate with patients regarding test and biopsy results, treatment plans, and recommended procedures in accordance with provider direction. Schedule procedures and patient appointments by telephone while optimizing patient satisfaction, provider schedules, and treatment room utilization. Educate patients regarding upcoming procedures, preparation, expectations, and next steps. Provide compassionate support to patients by anticipating anxieties, answering questions, and helping patients feel informed and comfortable. Maintain and monitor the department's results and surgery logs to ensure recommended procedures and surgeries are completed and appropriately documented. Follow up with patients and/or offices as necessary regarding outstanding procedures, results, or treatment plans. Communicate professionally and effectively with patients, providers, insurance companies, and other members of the healthcare team. Demonstrate excellent telephone etiquette and maintain a professional, courteous, and compassionate demeanor at all times. Protect and maintain patient privacy and dignity and ensure patient confidentiality at all times. Adhere to all HIPAA guidelines, regulations, and company policies. Maintain accurate and timely documentation in the patient's medical record and applicable department logs. Participate in staff meetings, educational meetings, and required training. Keep the department manager, informed of problems, concerns, delays, or other issues requiring attention. Perform other related duties and responsibilities as required. Qualifications & Experience High school diploma or GED required. Current certification, if applicable to the position. Minimum of one year of medical experience in a physician's office . Experience in dermatology or a specialty medical practice is a plus. Strong professional verbal and written communication skills. Excellent telephone communication and patient service skills. Ability to explain information clearly and compassionately to patients. Strong organizational skills and attention to detail. Ability to prioritize multiple tasks and follow through on outstanding items. Ability to work independently while also functioning effectively as part of a team. Professional appearance and demeanor. Commitment to patient confidentiality and HIPAA compliance. Skills & Abilities Ability to operate a multi-line telephone system and answer telephone calls in a pleasant, professional, and helpful manner. Excellent telephone etiquette and customer service skills. Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with patients, medical staff, coworkers, and the general public. Ability to read, write, and communicate effectively both orally and in writing. Ability to maintain confidentiality and protect sensitive patient information. Ability to maintain accurate records, files, logs, and documentation. Ability to operate a personal computer and utilize standard office software and electronic medical record systems. Ability to organize, prioritize, and complete multiple tasks with accuracy and attention to detail. Knowledge of basic arithmetic and ability to perform basic mathematical calculations. Ability to communicate professionally and compassionately with patients who may be anxious, concerned, or uncertain about their treatment. Ability to maintain confidentiality and comply with all HIPAA guidelines and regulations. Ability to exert physical effort as necessary to maintain, retrieve, organize, and distribute files and records. Physical Abilities & Requirements Ability to sit and/or stand as associated with a normal office environment. Manual dexterity sufficient for operating a calculator, computer keyboard, telephone, and other standard office equipment. Ability to perform routine office activities involving filing, organizing, retrieving, and distributing records and files. Ability to move and handle files and office materials as required. Ability to communicate effectively with patients, staff, providers, and the public in person and by telephone. Must maintain a current and valid driver's license.
