State Government Audit Lead

Assistance with relocation provided.As the Audit Lead, you will act as the intermediary between the Partner, the client, and the professional team. Your responsibilities include overseeing multiple auditing and accounting projects, managing client engagements, organizing workflow, and fostering client relationships. Additionally, you will mentor staff, facilitate business growth, and nurture client connections.Primary DutiesLead all phases of audit or review engagements across multiple projects simultaneouslyMaintain regular communication with clients to understand their operations and maintain strong relationshipsKeep the Partner informed of any significant updates on client accounts and provide solutions for potential issuesDemonstrate proficiency in technical skills, work quality, and application of professional standardsSchedule engagements effectively and adhere to firm's audit approachCreate, monitor, and follow budgeting for Assurance and Advisory projectsIdentify and address potential problems and scope expansion opportunitiesReview financial statements and other client deliverablesSupervise and review work done by senior and staff accountantsContribute to staff evaluations and performance reviewsParticipate in business development initiativesRequirementsMinimum Qualifications:Bachelor’s degree in accounting or related fieldAt least five years of public accounting experience, with a focus on auditing state and local governmentsActive CPA licensePreferred Qualifications:Strong team leadership skillsAbility to prioritize tasks and meet deadlines efficientlyThorough understanding of U.S. GAAP and GASB standardsExperience with GAGAS, GAAS, and Uniform Guidance auditsResponsive to feedback and supervisionExperience with audits of not-for-profit organizations is a plusWorking ConditionsHybrid work setup with flexibility to work from home, office, or client sites as neededSame-day travel to client locations, meetings, and seminarsOvernight travel for out-of-town client engagements, meetings, and seminarsOvertime work expected during peak periods from August to February
