ESG Compliance Officer

Responsibilities Provide guidance and support to senior management, the Management Board, and other individuals involved in regulated activities to ensure compliance with applicable regulatory obligations. Act as the main point of contact for regulators, including preparing and submitting regulatory filings, managing ongoing notifications, and coordinating responses to regulatory requests, reviews, and inspections. Design, implement, and maintain entity-level compliance policies and procedures, such as record-keeping policies, to ensure ESG ratings are issued, published, and distributed in line with relevant regulations. Manage the conflicts of interest framework by maintaining the conflicts register, overseeing staff attestations and related training, and administering staff trading restrictions in collaboration with Group Compliance. Conduct compliance oversight and risk-and-control monitoring in close partnership with Group Risk and Compliance, identify control gaps or deficiencies, and elevate these to the Management Board in a timely manner. Support the Board and governance committees by preparing and providing regular management information and compliance updates. Oversee the ongoing compliance review and approval of ESG rating methodologies and related public disclosures, including methodology descriptions, transparency statements, and website content, with support from Group Compliance. Supervise the public complaints process, including investigations, responses to stakeholder concerns, and whistleblowing matters. Monitor the effectiveness of business-line separation measures and carry out annual reviews to assess their adequacy. Take ownership of the public complaints handling framework and ensure it operates effectively. Identify regulatory and compliance training requirements, coordinate training delivery, track completion, and ensure employees are familiar with ESG compliance policies and procedures. You’ll Need to Have More than 8 years of experience in financial services compliance and/or risk management, with exposure to ESG-related products, services, or regulatory frameworks. Proven experience engaging directly with regulators and supervisory bodies, ideally within the EU, and managing regulatory relationships effectively. Strong working knowledge of EU regulatory requirements and interpretive guidance related to ESG ratings, or closely comparable experience in areas such as pricing or credit ratings. Ability to carry out detailed and technical reviews of ESG rating methods and the governance arrangements supporting them. Experience in implementing ESG-related transparency, governance, and conflict-of-interest management frameworks, including the development of robust systems and controls. Demonstrated capability in identifying, assessing, and managing regulatory and compliance risks, including experience with risk frameworks and issue management processes. Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with a strong track record of drafting policies, procedures, manuals, reports, and materials for senior leadership and governance bodies. Strong executive presence and sound professional judgment. Ability to manage multiple priorities effectively in a fast-paced and evolving environment.
