This role is responsible for shaping and executing scalable, secure, and resilient integration architectures that support mission-critical business processes across Order-to-Cash (O2C) and Procure-to-Pay (P2P) workflows. This role uniquely combines forward-looking architecture and modernization leadership with operational accountability for existing platforms.The individual will serve as a technical leader responsible for ensuring current EDI environments consistently meet business KPIs related to availability, performance, transaction integrity, and partner experience, while simultaneously driving transformation toward more scalable, automated, and AI-enabled architectures.The ideal candidate brings deep technical expertise in EDI and integration ecosystems, with the ability to translate business objectives into practical architectural solutions and communicate effectively across engineering, product, and business stakeholders. This individual will play a critical role in driving modernization initiatives, embedding automation and AI-led innovation, and ensuring alignment with enterprise standards and long-term strategic goals.JOB RESPONSIBILITIESDefine and evolve architecture for enterprise EDI/B2B platforms, balancing current-state stability with future-state modernization and scalabilityTranslate business objectives into secure, resilient, and high-performing integration designs across connectivity, transformation, and orchestration layersProvide technical leadership for platform operations, ensuring systems consistently meet KPIs for availability, throughput, transaction integrity, and partner experienceLead resolution of systemic issues and major disruptions, ensuring stability across high-volume, mission-critical transaction flowsDrive modernization initiatives that simplify architecture, reduce technical debt, and unlock scalability, resilience, and speed of executionEnable adoption of modern integration patterns, including API-led and event-driven architecturesAct as a hands-on SME for complex EDI/B2B integration scenarios, including partner onboarding, data exchange, and transaction lifecycle managementGuide engineering teams on troubleshooting, root cause analysis, and performance optimization for large-scale distributed systemsEstablish and enforce architectural standards, design patterns, and best practices across integration initiativesLead architecture and design reviews, ensuring alignment with enterprise strategy and operating modelDrive automation and AI-led improvements to enhance operational efficiency, observability, and intelligent decision-making across the platformPartner with business, product, and external stakeholders to align architecture with customer experience, growth, and transformation goals including vendor exploration and selection for future-state systemsMINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS- Degree or equivalent andtypically requires 10+ years ofrelevant experience. Less yearsrequired if has relevant Master’sor Doctorate qualifications.CRITICAL SKILLS 10+ years of experience in software engineering and architecture with strong focus on enterprise integration and EDI/B2B ecosystemsProven expertise in designing and operating large-scale, distributed systems supporting high-volume, mission-critical transaction processingDeep hands-on experience across the EDI lifecycle including partner onboarding, data transformation, connectivity protocols, and transaction orchestrationDemonstrated ability to balance platform operations accountability with forward-looking architecture and modernization initiativesSolid understanding of operational excellence principles including system reliability, observability, performance optimization, and incident managementExperience leveraging automation and emerging AI capabilities to improve platform efficiency, scalability, and decision-makingProven ability to influence architectural decisions and guide technical direction across cross-functional teams without direct authorityStrong communication skills with the ability to translate complex technical concepts into clear, concise business and executive messagingNICE TO HAVE Experience driving or contributing to modernization programs involving cloud adoption, API-led, and event-driven integration patternsAbility to dive deep into system behavior, troubleshoot complex issues, and drive resolution in high-pressure scenariosDemonstrated leadership in mentoring engineers and architects, fostering strong technical discipline and consistencyExperience in healthcare, pharmaceutical, or supply chain environments is a plusCandidate must be authorized to work in the U.S, now or in the future, without the support from McKesson. The pay range shown below is aligned with McKesson's pay philosophy, and pay will always be compliant with any applicable regulations.
