A Used Car Technician is responsible for performing vehicle repairs and maintenance work as assigned in accordance with dealer and factory standards.

Paid time off (PTO) and paid holidays are provided, starting with 1 hour of PTO for every 40 hours worked for the first year, increasing to 2.39 hours of PTO for every 40 hours worked for 10 or more years of service. Pay ranges from $20 to $26 an hour depending on experience.
Essential duties include performing work as outlined on repair orders with efficiency and accuracy, diagnosing vehicle problems based on customer complaints and inspection, communicating with the parts department to obtain needed parts, saving and tagging parts of the job if under warranty or if requested by the customer, examining assigned vehicles to determine if further safety or service work is required or recommended, communicating with the service advisor immediately if additional work is needed, documenting all work performed and recommended on the repair order, road testing vehicles to quality check work performed, participating in manufacturer-sponsored training programs, schools, and events, keeping abreast of manufacturer technical bulletins, inspecting and test driving newly delivered vehicles for obvious damage and missing major components and drivability functions, installing optional equipment specified by the customer or dealer, reporting machinery defects or malfunctions to the supervisor, ensuring that customers' cars are kept clean and notifying the service advisor immediately of anything that has happened to change the appearance or condition of the vehicle, keeping the shop area neat, clean, and organized, maintaining and being accountable for all dealership-owned tools and manuals, understanding, keeping abreast of, and complying with federal, state, and local regulations, such as hazardous waste disposal, OSHA Right-to-Know, etc., operating all tools and equipment in a safe manner, and reporting any safety issues immediately to management.
Marginal duties include being a team player, ability to work in a fast-paced environment, effective communicator, and other duties as assigned.
Driving is an essential function of this position. Applicants must possess a valid driver's license and maintain an acceptable driving record consistent with company insurance standards throughout employment.
