SENIOR UTILITIES ENGINEER (SPECIALIST)

Job Overview Senior Utilities Engineer (Specialist) – 12‑Month Limited Term Salary: $11,437.00 – $14,315.00 per month. Responsibilities Advise project and program supervisors and senior managers on electric general rate case proceedings. Analyze utility general rate case and cost‑of‑capital applications, financing requests, and other utility financing matters. Prepare and present reports, coordinate with California Energy Commission, California Air Resources Board, California Independent System Operator, and other agencies. Review and recommend action on advice‑letter requests and provide feedback on proposed legislative bills. Oversee implementation of CPUC and legislative initiatives and conduct other related duties as assigned. Minimum Requirements Professional Engineer license in California or ability to obtain within 90 days of appointment. Experience with public utilities, economics, finance, or policy as outlined in the Class Specification. Legal authorization to work in the United States and residence in California. Desirable Qualifications Leadership experience on projects or teams. Research and analytical skills on complex regulatory and policy matters. Communication skills for concise presentation of information. Ability to manage multiple assignments and meet deadlines. Working Conditions This is a limited‑term position that may be extended to 24 months and could become permanent. The role requires travel, and the employee is expected to report to the designated headquarters office at least two days per week. Hybrid telework may be available in accordance with California Government Code Section 14200. The California Public Utilities Commission does not participate in the federal E‑Verify program.
